Little League meeting Clear Spring Little League will hold a general meeting Sunday at 6 p.m. in the American Legion activities building.  All parents, coaches and volunteers interested in Clear Spring Little League are encouraged to attend.   LL registration Also, you might want to mark your calendars for the registration and sign-ups for Little League baseball for Clear Spring. The dates will be Thursday, Feb. 10, from 6 to 8 p.m.; Friday, Feb. 11, from 6 to 8 p.m.; and Saturday, Feb. 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.   The location for the sign-ups will be the Clear Spring Legion activities building behind the main building.

In cooperation with 2013 Outdoor Fitness Series, there will be yoga classes from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, May 7 through June 25, on the lawn or near the fountain at the University Plaza, 32 W. Washington St., Hagerstown. Two classes Tuesdays, May 14, and June 11 will be Zumba. The classes are free and open to everyone. The 20th annual Step 'n Stride will be held Saturday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. to noon at Hagerstown Community College's ARCC. Proceeds from the event go to Breast Cancer Awareness-Cumberland Valley. Participants will receive a T-shirt and tote bag with a $75 donation. The event will include a 5-mile walk, Zumba fitness classes, survivors' group photo, team pictures, incentive prizes and door prizes. Online registration is available at www.bcacv.org . Western Enterprise Fire Department will hold bingo Thursday, beginning at 7 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. with a complimentary turkey dinner served from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.   The New Year's Eve bingo event will be a double session. Bingo will begin at 7 p.m. It will cost $40 for the double session or $25 for those who want to stay for the first session only.      No tickets will be sold in advance. Tickets can be purchased at the door. There will be limited seating. The kitchen will be open.    Hot dogs and sauerkraut will be served at midnight.

Classes to help smokers stop FREDERICK, Md. - Stop Smoking for Life classes will be held 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at Frederick County Health Department, 350 Montevue Lane, Entrance D, Room 2-139. Classes will last for three weeks on Monday and Thursday evenings. There is no charge for the class, materials and incentives. Nicotine Replacement Therapy, the patch, is provided free to class participants with a doctor's permission. Forms for the doctor are provided the first night of class.

Lacrosse clinic The Hagerstown Area YMCA Lacrosse Association and the Smithsburg Youth Lacrosse Club are holding a lacrosse clinic for boys and girls in grades one to eight Saturdays, Oct. 17 and 24 at the Hagerstown YMCA on Eastern Boulevard. The clinic costs $10 per child with an additional $35 fee if a lacrosse stick is needed. All players, both returning and new, are required to attend. Author to speak Local author and historian Warren Gray will ask the question, "Was Flight 93 Shot Down?" in a program at Boonsboro Library Thursday, Sept. 2, at 6 p.m. United Flight 93 - the famous flight of heroes who stormed the cockpit to stop the terrorist pilots - was the last airliner to crash Sept. 11, 2001. The 9/11 Commission Report lists no official cause for the crash and the flight data recorder indicates that the heroes never made it into the cockpit.

Ring in 2011 with the Polar Bear Plunge The annual Polar Bear Plunge will be New Year's Day at noon at the boat ramp at River Bottom Park in Williamsport as members of the Polar Bear Club and others take a chilly dip into the Potomac River. Prizes and trophies will be awarded. Warm dressing accommodations will be available for participants, as well as treats for participants and spectators.
