Mary Janet "Aunt Mary" Rucks, 88, of Bunker Hill, W.Va., died Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center. The family will receive friends Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at South Berkeley Chapel, Inwood, W.Va. The service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Brian Shoda officiating. Entombment with military honors will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester.

Lori Wilfong and Eddie Woodward of Ranson, W.Va., announce the birth of a daughter, Hannah Grace Woodward , Aug. 1, 2011. Maternal grandparents are Kim Wilfong of Greencastle, Pa., and Bobby Wilfong of Winchester, Va. Paternal grandparents are Herbert and Judy Woodward of Ranson. Maternal great-grandparents are Bonnie and Norman Smith of Winchester, and Frances Wiley of Ranson.

Elizabeth V. Butts, 86, of Martinsburg, W.Va., died Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center. Mrs. Butts was born July 15, 1925, in Winchester, the daughter of Louie and Florence Frick Owens.  She married David Lewis Butts on Feb. 11, 1944, in Winchester. David died Sept. 1, 1992. She is survived by her children, Jean Elizabeth Warner of Winchester, Joseph Lewis Butts and Susan Ann Hunt, both of Clear Brook, and Sherry Marie Kees of Martinsburg; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her sister, Ethel Fisher; and her brother, James Owens.

APRIL 14, 1930-FEB. 16, 2009 WINCHESTER, Va. - Mazie Leona Orndorff, 78, of Winchester, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at her home. Born April 14, 1930, in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William and Elsie Viola Hovermale. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andres Hunter Orndorff, in 1968. She attended Morgan County, W.Va., schools. She was a seasonal worker for 34 years in the apple industry. She was a member of Braddock Street United Methodist Church and attended Highland United Methodist Church.

NOV. 28, 1915-JULY 5, 2009 WINCHESTER, Va. - William Franklin Cowherd of 290 Westminster Canterbury Drive, Winchester, died July 5, 2009. He was born Nov. 28, 1915, in Cumberland, Md. He was the son of Lewis Quarles Cowherd and Blanche Haller Cowherd. Mr. Cowherd graduated from Allegany High School in 1933 and Catherman's Business School in Cumberland. He was employed by Potomac Edison for 42 years, working in Cumberland, Winchester and Charles Town. He retired as central division manager in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Paternal great-grandparents are Meta Marlow of Winchester and the late William Marlow, and Frances Kestner of Palm Beach, Fla., and the late Ronnie Kestner.
