Army Pvt. John C. Durham, son of John P. and Judith L. Durham of Williamsport, graduated from basic combat military training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. Durham is a 1998 graduate of Williamsport High School.

Ida Kate Grimes, 108, of Williamsport, Md., passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013, in Hagerstown, Md. Born Feb. 16, 1905, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Hamilton and Nettie Lee Bowser Grimes. She was a graduate of Williamsport High School, and received her teaching certificate at Towson Normal School in Towson, Md. She started her teaching career at Pinesburg School, and ended it at Surrey School in Hagerstown. She taught for 44 years until retiring. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Williamsport.

Kimberly “Kim” Cheree Yumlu, 45, of Hagerstown, Md., and formerly of Williamsport, Md., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, at Inova Hospital in Falls Church, Va. Born April 22, 1966, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Henry Tracy Piper Sr. and Bonnie Lee Shoemaker Piper of Williamsport. She was a 1984 graduate of Williamsport High School and also attended Hagerstown Junior College. She was employed by the Washington County Board of Education at Springfield Middle School as a special education paraprofessional.

Belynda Marie Forsyth and Richard Lee Strunk were married Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Lappans. The bride is the daughter of Michelle and Brian Chaney of Boonsboro, and Andrew and JoAnn Forsyth of Cearfoss. The bridegroom is the son of Brenda Strunk of Sharpsburg. The bride is a 2003 graduate of Williamsport High School. She is employed by Saladworks in Hagerstown. The bridegroom attended Williamsport High School. He is employed as a carpenter with Treber Construction in Virginia.

The bride is the daughter of Debbie and Steve Boggs of Williamsport. The bridegroom is the son of William and Glenda Walling of Fairplay. The bride is a 2005 graduate of Williamsport High School and has received an Associate of Arts in English education from Hagerstown Community College. She is employed as an application specialist for Susquehanna Bank.

Laura Jean Munson and William Troy Walter were married Friday, May 22, 2009, at Dam No. 4 in Downsville. The bride is the daughter of Lawrence C. Shank Sr. of Williamsport. The bridegroom is the son of Patricia Walter of Hagerstown and the late William D. Walter. The bride is a 1986 graduate of Williamsport High School. She is employed as a cook with Julia Manor in Hagerstown. The bridegroom is a 1983 graduate of Williamsport High School and a 2000 graduate of Frostburg State University.

Paul Plume, owner/president of High Performance Cabling Inc. of Hagerstown, announced that Trisha Leigh of Williamsport High School was awarded a $1,000 athletic scholarship. Each year, the company awards the athletic scholarship to a qualifying student at Williamsport High School. She was presented the award at the senior awards ceremony June 2. Leigh plans to attend Shepherd University to play volleyball. She is the daughter of Mike and Tammy Leigh of Williamsport.
