A man wanted as a fugitive from justice in Maryland and in Jefferson County, W.Va., for failing to appear in court on a felony drug charge was captured Wednesday by authorities at a residence off Flowing Springs Road, police said. Bradley Allen Wilt, 31, surrendered to police after initially fleeing on foot in the vicinity of a Gray Rock Road residence where he was found, Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputy Sgt. Victor Lupis said Thursday. Wilt was wanted in Jefferson County for failing to appear in court on a felony count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, Lupis said.

A Martinsburg man was killed Saturday night when he was thrown from his motorcycle after it collided with a vehicle at the intersection of Apple Harvest Drive and Loop Road, according to West Virginia State Police. Curtis Lee Smith, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene, Sgt. Michael A. Cole said in a news release. The driver of the car, Horace Thomas, 63, of Gerrardstown, W.Va., was taken to City Hospital in Martinsburg for minor injuries, Cole said. Police determined that both vehicles were traveling south on Apple Harvest Drive (W.Va.

One person was killed when a motorcycle and a vehicle collided Saturday at about 8:25 p.m. on Loop Road near Apple Harvest Drive, a Berkeley County Emergency Services supervisor said. West Virginia State Police said further information, including the names of the people involved, was not immediately available.

A woman who died Wednesday the after vehicle she was riding in crashed on Apple Harvest Drive southwest of Martinsburg was identified as Charm Marie Edwards of Gerrardstown, W.Va., West Virginia State Police said Thursday. Edwards, 70, was a passenger in a 2000 Ford Explorer that her husband, Bobby Adams, was driving when the crash occurred in the 8000 block of Apple Harvest Drive, troopers said. The accident was reported at 5:11 p.m., emergency officials had said. Edwards, who was thrown from the vehicle, was pronounced dead at 5:45 p.m., troopers said.

Family members of Wayne Jones, who died March 13 from multiple gunshot wounds when five Martinsburg police officers tried to arrest him during an altercation, claimed at a news conference Wednesday that Jones was struck 15 times by police bullets. The incident is being investigated by West Virginia State Police. The results of an autopsy performed on Jones, 50, of Stephens City, Va., have not been released. “The case is still under investigation,” Berkeley County Prosecutor Pamela Games-Neely said Wednesday.

A man wanted by the West Virginia State Police on six counts of sexual abuse of a minor was arrested last month by members of the Mountain State Fugitive Task force, a deputy U.S. Marshal announced Friday. Donald Freedman Graham, 29, of Kearneysville, W.Va., was arrested Feb. 27 after task force members converged on a mobile home where he was located, according to a news release from deputy U.S. Marshal Jon LaLiberte. The case pending against Graham was investigated by State Police Trooper W.R. Garrett and LaLiberte said in the news that additional victims were identified and interviewed after the man's arrest.

Police said a 22-year-old man who led them on a high-speed pursuit in Virginia and West Virginia late Monday night and early Tuesday morning later admitted that he was fleeing in a pickup truck that he stole from a hospital in Maryland. Matthew Michael Cameron, of no fixed address, was arraigned Tuesday by Berkeley County Magistrate Harry L. Snow on single felony counts of fleeing while driving under the influence, receiving/transferring stolen property and bringing stolen property into the state, according to police and court records.

Police are looking for a man wanted in connection with the armed robbery of a Hedgesville area restaurant Monday afternoon. The white male suspect was wearing a gray hoodie, jeans and a black or dark brown ball cap with a white front when he displayed a firearm and stole cash from California Dreams at 4502 Hedgesville Road, West Virginia State Police Sgt. J.D. Burkhart said Tuesday in a news release. The hoodie might have had “Carolina” printed across the chest of the hoodie, police said.

Police are investigating an armed robbery at California Dreams bar and grill at 4502 Hedgesville Road west of Martinsburg, W.Va., according to a Berkeley County emergency communications supervisor. The reported robbery, which was called in at 3:10 p.m., is being investigated by the West Virginia State Police, according to police. The robber displayed a handgun when he robbed the business, police said. He was described as a white male in his 20s and he had a beard, police said.

West Virginia State Police have arrested more than 170 sex offenders since the first of the year for providing false information to the state sex offender registry. State Police 1st Sgt. Michael Baylous said the agency and the U.S. Marshal Service has verified the information for more than 1,000 offenders on the registry during that time, after a weekend sweep by state police. Baylous said additional arrests are expected as individuals are located and investigations are completed.
