Two Indiana residents were charged after West Virginia State Police seized more than 19 pounds of marijuana from a pickup truck that was  stopped Tuesday on Interstate 81, according to police and court documents. Marshea Nicole Dunn, 27, and Cody James Godina, 19, of Francesville, Ind., were arraigned Wednesday on single felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, transporting a controlled substance into the state and conspiracy, according to Berkeley County Magistrate Court documents.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - West Virginia State Police will conduct sobriety checkpoints from Saturday, Nov. 28, at 9 p.m. through Sunday, Nov. 29, at 3 a.m. The checkpoint will be at one or both of the following locations: o U.S. 11 south at the intersection with Shenandoah Street, in front of Club Zero and Tri-County Rentals. Alternate routes of travel are Interstate 81 when approaching from the north and south, W.Va. 9 and Wheatland Street when approaching from the north, and Tablers Station Road and Lawn Street when approaching from the south.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - One person was killed Saturday evening in a collision on W.Va. 45 at the entrance to the Glenwood Forest subdivision near Martinsburg, said a dispatcher at the West Virginia State Police headquarters in Martinsburg. West Virginia State Police responded to the scene at about 7:30 p.m., the dispatcher said. No other information was available by 10 p.m. Saturday.

INWOOD, W.Va. - West Virginia State Police said an armed robbery occurred at the Hot Spot Cafe in Inwood on Saturday about 12:10 a.m. Trooper J.S. Chumley said no one was injured in the incident and the robber or robbers remain at large. No further information about the incident was available.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- West Virginia State Police responded to a multiple-vehicle accident on northbound Interstate 81 just south of Exit 20 (Spring Mills) early Thursday afternoon. Police said three vehicles were involved. All lanes remained open.

The ROCS convenience store in the 1600 block of West King Street outside Martinsburg was robbed at about 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, a Berkeley County Emergency Services supervisor said. The supervisor said West Virginia State Police was handling the investigation. State police said Tuesday morning that further details were unavailable.

One person was killed when a motorcycle and a vehicle collided Saturday at about 8:25 p.m. on Loop Road near Apple Harvest Drive, a Berkeley County Emergency Services supervisor said. West Virginia State Police said further information, including the names of the people involved, was not immediately available.

A helicopter was called to the scene of a traffic accident Friday night in Shenandoah Junction, W.Va., a Jefferson County Emergency Services dispatcher said. The dispatcher said the accident was reported at 8:02 p.m. on Ridge Road. Neither the dispatcher nor West Virginia State Police had further details, including the exact location of the accident.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- A lieutenant with the Martinsburg Police Department was arraigned Monday morning on a charge of battery, according to an e-mailed release issued by Police Chief T.C. "Ted" Anderson. The charge against Lt. John Sherman Jr. stemmed from a call for a battery in progress to which West Virginia State Police responded Thursday. Troopers responding to the 7:20 p.m. call to 9512 Tuscarora Pike learned that one of the people involved in the incident was Sherman, who was off duty at the time, the release alleges.

Police in Berkeley County are investigating two home invasions reported on Wednesday, one of which resulted in a victim being taken to the hospital for treatment. At Sperry Avenue near Martinsburg, three males entered the residence and used a blunt instrument to strike a man several times in the face and torso about 6:40 p.m., the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office said in a news release Deputies said the victim was taken to Berkeley Medical Center to be treated for nonlife-threatening injuries.

Young African-American males are “under siege and should be classified as an endangered species,” the keynote speaker told a conference of delegates from West Virginia's 16 NAACP branches on Friday.  The remarks came in an address by local attorney Sherman Lambert before about 100 NAACP members and guests gathered for the first day of the two-day 69th Annual WV State Conference of Branches at Mount Zion United Methodist Church at 532 W. Martin St.  Lambert centered his remarks on the Trayvon Martin case in Florida, reaching back into three noted Mississippi and Alabama civil rights cases of the 1950s and 1960s to illustrate his points about racial discrimination.

A Washington D.C. man charged in the June 22 fatal shooting of another man in Washington was captured in Martinsburg last Thursday by U.S. Marshals and West Virginia State Police. Don Demichie Page, 23, was taken into custody without incident at a residence along Electra Court, the U.S. Marshals Service announced  Monday .  Electra Court is off Shasta Lane is near Hack Wilson Way. A warrant charging Page with first degree murder while armed in the shooting of Quentin L. White in the 3500 block of East Capitol Street Southeast was issued July 3, according to court documents.  Authorities said Page fled to the Martinsburg area from Washington after the shooting, according to the U.S. Marshals Service announcement.

A two-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer and a Mini Cooper clogged traffic on the northbound lanes of Interstate 81 in Berkeley County for about six hours Tuesday, according to police and emergency officials. There were no injuries in the accident, which was reported at about 11:25 a.m., the West Virginia State Police and a Berkeley County 911 Central Dispatch supervisor said. The driver of the maroon 2003 Kenworth truck was Frank Harris of Pennsylvania and the driver of a green 2004 Mini Cooper coupe was identified as Easley Abraham III of North Carolina, police said.

Authorities are investigating incidents at two cemeteries in Martinsburg, where approximately 50 to 60 crypts have been tampered with, according to a news release from the West Virginia State Police. According to the release, Trooper 1st Class R.D. Eshbaugh on Tuesday responded to the Pleasant View Cemetery on Charles Town Road, where a caretaker at the facility noted damage to the mausoleum buildings on the south side of the property. Further investigation revealed approximately 50 crypts between two buildings had been tampered with, according to the release.

A Hedgesville man was found dead Saturday morning next to a car that West Virginia State Police determined went off the road and collided with a tree, according to a news release from state police. Police identified the man as Donovan Travis, 27. State police were notified of a traffic accident with a possible fatality near the 4300 block of Allensville Road at approximately 7:14 a.m. Saturday, the release said. Police found a 2007 Toyota Corolla off the east edge of the road and saw a deceased man lying on the ground near the car's passenger door, the release said.

A Martinsburg man was apprehended Saturday morning following an eight-hour standoff with police, according to a Martinsburg Police Department news release. Terry Lee Mason, 25, of 116 Wilt Drive, is charged with wanton endangerment and felon in possession of a firearm through Berkeley County Magistrate Court, according to the release. The incident began Saturday at about 1:30 a.m., when the Martinsburg Police Department responded to The Dirty Dawg Saloon at 1017 S. Queen St. in Martinsburg for a report of shots fired.

A woman driving a van involved in a two-vehicle collision Sunday morning was flown to Winchester (Va.) Medical Center, Independent Fire Co. Chief Donnie H. Lanham said. Lanham said the woman's injuries were not life-threatening, but she was trapped in the Dodge van for about 10 minutes, so she was flown to the Virginia hospital. The van's door had to be removed so emergency service workers could provide care to the woman, he said. The driver of the second vehicle, a car, was taken by ambulance to Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va., with nonlife-threatening injuries, Lanham said.
