MEN'S BASKETBALL West Chester 73, Shepherd 60 WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Matt Kurtz had a game-high 23 points as West Chester turned a two-point halftime lead into a 13-point victory over Shepherd University on Saturday. Steve Fattori had 17 points and Brandon Long added 10 for the Golden Rams (4-0). Danley Shank had a season-low 12 points, while Chad Myers had 11 and Darren Stackhouse added nine for Shepherd (2-2). Stackhouse grabbed 12 rebounds and Myers had four assists in the loss.

George “Pete” Limburg of West Chester, Pa., died Sept. 24, 2012 at age 95. Born Sept. 23, 1917, he was the son of Percy and Minnie Belle Limburg. Graduating in 1935 from Hagerstown High School, he worked at Pangborn Corporation for 43 years until retirement. He was an active member of First Baptist Church, serving as deacon, trustee, and on the senior choir. A passionate hunter, Pete was a member of Western Maryland Sportsman's Club and a former president of A.C. Hunt Club.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL WEST CHESTER, Pa. -- Camille Wilmer had 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead Shepherd University to a 76-63 win over Cheyney on Wednesday. Shelby Fayak also had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Carrie Saunders scored 15 points, Jenn Prine added 13 points and Katie Biggs had 12 points and eight rebounds for the Rams (1-1). RUNNING Crawford runs NYC again NEW YORK -- Robert Crawford, 60, of Cascade, recently completed the New York City Marathon for the 22nd time in his career.

MEN'S BASKETBALL GERMANTOWN, Md. - Tommy Cox scored 22 points and had five assists Wednesday to lead Hagerstown Community College to a 104-94 victory over Germantown (1-4) in a Maryland JuCo game. Rayquan Miles had 16 points and nine rebounds and Ricardo Lovelace had 13 points and eight rebounds for the Hawks (2-6, 1-1). Elbin-Wilson Jennifer Lynn Wilson and Quentin Lee Elbin were married Saturday, June 9, 2007, at their home. The bride is the daughter of the late William and Ruby Kline. The bridegroom is the son of Norman Elbin of Virginia. They are both employed with Good Humor/Breyers Ice Cream. They live in Falling Waters, W.Va. Middlekauff-Mandeville Linda Joanne Weaver Mandeville and Hugh Edward Middlekauff Jr. were married Saturday, May 19, 2007, at Fountain Head Country Club in Hagerstown.

PREP CROSS COUNTRY HERSHEY, Pa. -- The Chambersburg girls were the only local team to qualify for next week's PIAA state meet, placing fourth out of 60 schools Wednesday at the District 3 Class AAA championships. Only the top five teams advanced. For the Trojans on the challenging 3.1-mile course, Maeve Charlesworth was 23rd (21:01), Alayna Merkle was 25th (21:02), Laurie Jones was 37th (21:18), McKenzie Doyle was 56th (21:39) and Haley Jones was 62nd (21:49). The Chambersburg boys, who finished 11th, had two individual state qualifiers -- Dan Patti (23rd, 17:37)

COLLEGE BASEBALL West Chester 10, Shepherd 1 WEST LAWN, Pa. -- West Chester (44-10), ranked No. 2 by the National College Baseball Writers' Association and No. 7 by Collegiate Baseball, used a 14-hit attack to end Shepherd University's season at the NCAA II Atlantic Regionals. Shepherd (33-18) got its only run in the seventh when Trey Stewart led off with a solo home run to right. GOLF Layton gets an ace Merrill Layton hit his first-ever hole-in-one on the 152-yard par-3 15th hole at Black Rock on Friday.

JUNE 5, 1916-MAY 11, 2009 SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - C. Graydon Schlichter, 92, of 600 E. Orange St., Shippensburg, died Monday, May 11, 2009, at the Shippensburg Health Care Center. Born June 5, 1916, in Letterkenny Township, Franklin County, he was a son of the late John B. and Carrie B. Weicht Schlichter. He was a graduate of Chambersburg High School and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1939, where he was a member of the University Methodist Choir and is currently a member of the Alumni Association.

JULY 30, 1958-DEC. 20, 2008 YORK, Pa. - Pamela J. Crum, 50, of York, and formerly of Chambersburg, Pa., died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at her home. Born July 30, 1958, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Louise Brookens Flory. She was a 1976 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School. She worked as a waitress at a number of restaurants in York, including the Old Country Buffet. She is survived by three children, Jeremy Crum of Chambersburg, Brandon Kohr of West Chester, Pa., and Shawnda Kohr of Chambersburg; one sister, Bonnie Dunn of Exton, Pa.; one brother, Dennis Flory of Chambersburg; and four grandchildren.

FEB. 16, 1955-NOV. 21, 2008 COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Dennis C. Shelly, 53, of College Station, and formerly of St. Thomas, Pa., died on Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, in College Station as a result of a motor vehicle accident. Born Feb. 16, 1955, in Chambersburg, Pa., he was a son of Harry C. and Joan L. Armstrong Shelly of Coatesville, Pa. He was a 1973 graduate of James Buchanan High School and earned bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees while studying at Huntington College in Huntington, Ind., Texas A&M in College Station, Texas, and Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. He worked for Eli Lilly and Co. and the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J. He was of the Protestant faith.

MEN'S GOLF Shepherd ties for 10th MARIETTA, Ohio -- Shepherd University shot a two-round total of 626 to finish in a tie for 10th place with West Chester at the Burger King Invitational over the weekend. Host Ohio Valley took team honors with a 572. Eric Ashby led the Rams with a 152 to tie for 23rd place. Matt Deaner followed with a 155 to finish in a tie for 37th. Chris Lantz shot a 159 to tie for 53rd, Aaron Stenta had a 160 for 56th and Matt Robertson added a 173 for 82nd.
