A portion of Tabler Station Business Park will be used for parking for the Tough Mudder endurance series event scheduled for April 20 and 21 in southern Berkeley County. The Berkeley County Development Authority's board of directors agreed Wednesday to lease a portion of the business park for $10,000 for parking, authority Executive Director Stephen Christian said after the meeting. Organizers of Tough Mudder will use the area of the business park that has been used for parking for the Thunder Over the Blue Ridge Open House and Air Show, Christian said.

The Martinsburg Mall is negotiating with a Florida company to open an Olive Garden restaurant along Foxcroft Avenue, according to mall General Manager Robert Gardner. “We're hoping to sign a deal in the near future,” Gardner said Tuesday. The mall is currently negotiating a property lease agreement with GMRI Inc., which is affiliated with Orlando-basedDarden Restaurants Inc., according to Gardner. While no agreement has been reached, Gardner said a letter of intent has been signed, which allowed for the negotiations to proceed.

An ongoing wastewater pipeline-replacement project will cause some interruptions in service for Hagerstown residents, according to the city's website. Work was taking place in the area of the MELP plant on Wednesday, the website said. When contacted for comment, city Utilities Director Michael S. Spiker responded via email, citing information from the website. Many of Hagerstown's wastewater pipes are made of clay and are more than 50 years old, which has led to disrepair and structural defects.

An Inwood, W.Va., beverage company that was recognized last month at the 28th Natural Products Expo East in Baltimore for creation of low-calorie tea is holding an open house Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Tours of the facility operated by Tropical Breeze Beverages at 4325 Gerrardstown Road will be available, as will the creators of the company's award winning Dr. B's Premium Microbrewed Tea, according to a news release. Producers of the expo announced on Sept. 24 that the family-owned company in southern Berkeley County was awarded Best New Food for its Coconut Tea. Founded by dentist Ken Banks in 2010, the company says on its website that it develops and manufactures ready-to-drink all-natural teas that have no sugar added and are naturally caffeine free.

Here isthe list of road closures for Friday, May 13: • The shoulder lanes on Md. 68 are still closed in both directions in Williamsport at the bridge over railroad tracks southeast of Interstate 81, the Maryland State Highway Administration's (SHA) website is reporting. According to the website, today is the last day it will be closed. The lanes are being closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. • Md. 550 in Thurmont, Md., is still closed in both directions between Eylers Valley Flint Road and Kelbaugh Road due to a mudslide that occurred April 17. The Maryland State Highway Administration says it is still unsure when it will reopen.

It's official: June 2010 in Hagerstown was the hottest June on record. And brace yourself, because another heat wave is on the way, according to the National Weather Service. The average temperature for the month in the city was 76 degrees, topping the previous hottest June by one degree, according to Hagerstown weather observer Greg Keefer's website, i4weather.net . In 1899, the average temperature for the month was 75 degrees, according to the website. This past June saw three days in which the city tied or set a record for a high temperature, including June 27, when the mercury reached 98 degrees, according to Keefer's website.
