As of about 10:20 Tuesday night, the low temperature Tuesday was 4.3 degrees, a Web site maintained by Hagerstown weather observer Greg Keefer said. The record low for Tuesday's date was set at 5 degrees below zero in 1918, according to www.i4weather.net .

The 18th annual Memorial Illumination at Antietam National Battlefield will be held today, weather permitting. The opening ceremony begins at 4:15 p.m. at the Maryland Monument near the visitors center. The driving tour is open to the public from 6 p.m. to midnight. If the event is postponed due the weather, the decision will be made by 10 a.m. today. The rain date is Saturday, Dec. 9. If there is inclement weather call 301-432-5124 for information.

CLEAR SPRING - The hydrants in Clear Spring will be flushed May 29, 30 and 31, weather permitting, Town Clerk Juanita Grimm said. Water customers might detect cloudy water conditions during the flushing process.
