A vehicle fire has been reported in the 1400 block of Johnsons Mill Road in Fulton County, Pa., a supervisor for Washington County Emergency Services said. Firefighters from Hancock were responding to the incident at around 9:25 a.m. Friday.

A vehicle fire on southbound Interstate 81 slowed traffic in the area of Showalter Road in Washington County near the Pennsylvania state line. Rescuers responded to a call at 2:53 p.m. that a tractor-trailer had caught fire near the 11-mile marker, according to a Washington County dispatcher. The incident backed traffic about one-half mile as rescuers worked to clear the scene. As of 3:30 p.m. it continued to move slowly through the area. One person was transported to Washington County Hospital with possible injuries, according to a dispatcher.

The Berkeley County, W.Va. Sheriff's Department was responding to an accident on Interstate 81 Wednesday afternoon, an emergency services dispatcher said. The accident happened at the 11-mile marker in the southbound lanes and involved a vehicle fire and someone trapped in the vehicle, the dispatcher said.

Bond hearings were held Thursday for three of four people charged Wednesday by the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office in connection with a series of arsons in Washington County on the night of March 22 and 24. Two Clear Spring men and two Mercersburg, Pa., women were charged, their arrests bringing the number of people accused in the arson spree between March 17 and April 7 to eight, Washington County District Court records said. The bond on Brandy Lynnett Sneider-Koontz, 19, of 10733 Knob Road, Mercersburg, Pa., was reduced from $120,000 to $65,000 during a bond review before District Judge Mark D. Thomas.

One lane of eastbound Interstate 70 near the Frederick County line was closed Monday night due to a vehicle fire, according to a 911 dispatcher. The fire, which is near the 38-mile marker, was reported at 8:44 p.m., the dispatcher said. No one was in the vehicle when the fire started, the dispatcher said. Both eastbound lanes were closed, but one was back open as of 9:17 p.m., and the other was reopened about an hour later, the dispatcher said.

Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office investigate vehicle fire SMITHSBURG - The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating an early-morning vehicle fire Thursday that caused $15,000 worth of damage to a stolen 2003 Mercedes sport utility vehicle, according to a news release from the fire marshal's office. The vehicle, owned by Ricki La Kishsa Barnes, was reported stolen out of Prince George's County, Deputy State Fire Marshal Ed Ernst said. Authorities got the call for the fire at 5:47 a.m. after it was discovered by a passer-by along Jefferson Boulevard east of Hagerstown, Ernst said.

A recreational vehicle caught fire Wednesday night along southbound Interstate 81 near the Tabler Station Road exit, according to emergency rescue officials. The fire was reported about 6:35 p.m., shutting down both southbound lanes of the interstate until about 8:15 p.m., when one lane was opened, a Berkeley County 911 spokeswoman said. The recreational vehicle, which was pulling a Jeep, was destroyed in the fire, the spokeswoman said. A man and woman riding in the vehicle were assisted by Red Cross, officials said.
