First Christian Church, at 1345 Potomac Ave. in Hagerstown, will hold its Vacation Bible School July 25 to 29, from 5:45 to 8:15 each evening. The theme this year is "SonQuest Rainforest" and is intended for those ages 3 to fifth grade. The school costs $5 per child. The event will include Bible study, snacks, games, music, crafts and other activities for children. For more information, call 301-733-0144.

A vacation Bible school will be held at Washington Square United Methodist Church Saturday, Aug. 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The one-day event will be held in conjunction with its sister church, St. Matthew's. Breakfast will be served from 8:30 to 9 a.m. and lunch from noon to 12:30 p.m. The event will include a Bible lesson, crafts, music and recreation with the theme "Wildwood Forest. " Classes will be for those ages prekindergarten through sixth grade. The church is at 538 Washington Ave. in Hagerstown.

St. John's Episcopal Church will hold its annual vacation Bible school from July 15 to 19 in the church education building. The theme is “Sky - All Things Are Possible With God!” VBS will begin with supper at 5:30 p.m., followed by classes from 6 to 8 p.m. The school will include a Biblical storyteller, an imagination station, games and crafts. Classes are targeted for those ages 3 to adult. The church is at 101 S. Prospect St., Hagerstown. For more information, call 301-733-2560.

Second Christian planning VBS Join the Second Christian Church at its vacation Bible school Aug. 11 to 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. This year the theme is "Son World Adventure Park. " There will be crafts, games, bible stories and snacks. All are welcome. Women's Day Mark your calendars on Sunday, Aug. 24, at 3:30 p.m. for Second Christian Church's Annual Women's Day program - 100 Women in White. The special guest speaker will be Minister Geneva Conway, St. Stephen's Missionary Baptist Church.

Way to go, Patsy For 34 years, she has been a school bus driver in and around Hancock. With the close of school this month, Patsy Moats has retired from the duties she executed so faithfully for so long. Patsy says she has thoroughly enjoyed all of her years of service and will miss the children greatly. She plans to serve as an occasional substitute driver during the coming school year. Patsy, we salute you. VBS starts Monday Hancock United Methodist Church hosts its annual Vacation Bible school beginning Monday evening.

It's an action-packed, adrenaline-filled expedition that teaches kids their strength and might come from God. It is taught through contemporary music, recreation games, science activities, extreme sports videos and crafts.

During the recent Memorial Day observance, Trinity Lutheran Church offered a Litany for Veterans. Many veterans in the congregation wore their uniforms to church on May 27. The service was held to honor those who sacrificed their lives in defense of our country. Fundraiser held to benefit St. Jude Mount Nebo Christian Preschool recently held a trikeathon to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Participants pedaled their hearts out for a great cause.  Brooke Mellott, 4, raised $580.

Haven Lutheran Church, 1035 Haven Road, will host its Vacation Bible School July 26 to 30, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The theme this year is "Sail the High Seas. " There will be a light supper.
