The Washington County Show Kids Junior Dance Twirl Team paraticipated in the 11th annual Twirl Mania Championships at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., in February. The championships featured baton twirlers from across the United States, Canada and Scotland competing on every level from novice to advanced. Events included parades, dance twirl team competitions, pair and solo twirling competitions, and clinics and workshops for twirlers and coaches.

As the area observes Memorial Dayon Monday, remember to thank those who have served in the military and sacrificed for our freedom.   Volunteer recognized The Washington County Chapter of the American Red Cross recently recognized Kate Pound for volunteering since 1985. Pound is an active member of Christ's Reformed Church, at 130 W. CLEAR SPRING - Practice makes a variety show, especially in two-part harmony. The Clear Spring Lions Club's 49th annual performance is coming up on March 10, 11 and 12, and about 40 singers have been warming up for weeks. The chorus began practicing twice weekly in early January. Director Burma Miles said she is adding two-part harmony to the songs this year. "It's tough," she said. "But I'm impressed. They work so hard. " Miles, who used to perform with the Baltimore Symphony, has directed the show for several years.

The program Christmas for Others is in its second phase now that registration has closed. The food, toy and clothing drives are beginning, and members of local churches are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items with them to the community Thanksgiving Eve service next week (see below). In addition, names for the toy sponsors will be available soon, as the toys are due Sunday, Dec. 9.   Thanksgiving Eve service set for Wednesday, Nov. 21 On Wednesday, Nov. 21, a community Thanksgiving Eve service will be held at 7:30 p.m. This year's host church is St. Peter's Catholic, 16 E. High St., and its pastor, the Rev. Jack Lombardi, is organizing the service and will deliver the homily.

Amyloidosis support offered The amyloidosis support group will meet at noon today at Richardson's Restaurant, 710 Dual Highway, U.S. 40, Hagerstown.
