Review Set in dramatic New York City, Melissa de la Cruz's "Blue Bloods" puts a different spin on the vampire novel. Schuyler Van Alen is a 15-year-old girl descended from the rich and powerful of New York. With her mother in a mysterious coma and an absent father, Schuyler is taken care of by her elderly grandmother. But things soon start to change. When Schuyler receives an invitation to "the Committee," a club Schuyler is sure she isn't meant for, her first reaction is to decline.

Bring on some cold - and then . . .welcome Spring! Greetings, neighbors. Looks like we are finally going to experience some real winter temperatures this week. As much as I have loved the unseasonable warmth, we will appreciate Spring so much more after what I hope will be a brief cold snap. I noticed out on Mapleville Road this week that some forsythia has jumped the gun on the season and blossomed. MOVIE REVIEW: "Underworld: Evolution"; rated R for graphic violence, explicit sex, strong language; 105 minutes In "Underworld: Evolution," the sequel to the big hit "Underworld," Selene, a female vampire played by Kate Beckinsale, hunts her own kind in Eastern Europe. She is also protecting a vampire-werewolf hybrid named Michael, played by Scott Speedman. The movie involves flashback across the span of human history to recall moments in the eternal struggle between werewolves and vampires.

andrear@herald-mail.com BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - "Bite me," actor Angela Petry instructed "Dracula" co-star Tom Brooks as the duo contemplated the placement of fang marks during a recent dress rehearsal for the Morgan Arts Council's newest show at the Ice House theater in downtown Berkeley Springs. It's a play into which audiences will truly sink their teeth. The 10-show run of "Dracula" starts at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, at the former apple storage facility on the corner of Mercer and Independence streets.
