The Clear Spring Blazers put up a good battle against the Urbana Hawks, but lost three close games and were swept 27-25, 25-21, 25-16 on Thursday night in a prep volleyball match. “It seems like it was a game of errors on both sides,” Clear Spring coach Sabrina Lee said. “The mental ones killed us the most. Serving was definitely a thorn in our side in Game 1, that's for sure. We rely on our serving a lot. Urbana is a good team and they definitely benefitted from our mistakes.” Urbana (2-1)

BOONSBORO - The marquee was set aside for a showdown between Seth Staley and Steve Chucoski in a 152-pound battle of titans. It never happened. But even with Staley and Jimmy Starkey (119), out of the lineup, North Hagerstown managed to scratch out a 31-27 victory over Urbana Thursday in a tri-meet matchup. Urbana led 21-20 heading into the third round of the meet, without the two Hubs' mainstays in the lineup. It made every match a showdown. In triangular format, each team wrestles four matches per round, using two mats and with the weight classes picked at random.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- Ross Flanigan looked up at the scoreboard and saw what he'd done. To his surprise, he'd just scored the game-winner in Urbana's 29-28 victory over Martinsburg Friday night. Flanigan followed quarterback Jesse Heon's 1-yard touchdown with a go-ahead 2-point conversion run that set the stage for a chaotic final 11 minutes. A Martinsburg player had jumped offsides while the Hawks were attempting a game-tying extra point, putting the ball just outside the 1-yard line.
