UNION BRIDGE, Md. - Maryland State Police are investigating a two-car accident that killed two people on Md. 75, near Union Bridge on Friday. Lauren DeLodovico, 20, of Libertytown, Md., was pronounced dead at the scene after a Ford Escort struck her Honda Civic, which was traveling south, police said. The Escort's front-seat passenger, Emily Pugh, 17, of Frederick, Md., was flown to Washington County Hospital after state troopers extricated her from the vehicle. State police said she died at the hospital from injuries she sustained in the 8 p.m. accident.

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Luvina Hylton Heskett, 67, of 115 E. H St., died Saturday, March 8, 2003, at Washington (D.C.) Hospital Center. Born May 26, 1935, in Floyd, Va., she was the daughter of the late Jabe H. and Carsie Weeks Hylton. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edwin Heskett Sr. She was a graduate of Bridgewater College. She retired after teaching at Lovettsville (Va.) Elementary School for 30 years. She was a Lutheran. She was a member of Bridgewater Alumni and Virginia Teachers Association.

BOYS BASKETBALL UNION BRIDGE, Md. - No. 7 North Hagerstown overwhelmed Francis Scott Key with seven steals in the first quarter off its fullcourt man pressure to build a 13-point lead and pull away to an easy 91-45 Monocacy Valley Athletic League win on Wednesday. Purnell Spruce led the onslaught with all four of his steals to open the game and get the Hubs (9-2, 5-2) started in a game where the whole team played and scored. Quielan Gantt led North with 21 points while Spruce had 12 points to go with 11 assists.

Maryland State Police continue sobriety check Maryland State Police in Hagerstown are conducting a sobriety checkpoint in Washington County through today. State police and deputies from the Washington County Sheriff's Department are conducting the checkpoint in an undisclosed location to target drunk and drugged drivers, police said. Kerosene fire destroys Libertytown, Md., home LIBERTYTOWN, Md. - A kerosene stove sparked a blaze that destroyed a Frederick County home late Thursday, the Maryland State Fire Marshal's office said.
