December 28, 2010 PREP WRESTLING SMITHSBURG — South Hagerstown sent three wrestlers to the finals and came away with a pair of champions Tuesday at the 22nd annual Leopard Holiday Invitational. Chris Collins prevailed at 189 pounds and Aaron Rowland won at 285 for the Rebels, while Jimmy Wilson was the runner-up at 130. In the finals, Collins won a 16-7 major decison over Springbrook’s Eddie Hernandez, and Rowland pinned Baltimore Polytechnic’s Joseph Cole in 33 seconds.

NOV. 6, 1938-APRIL 5, 2010 KEYMAR, Md. - Mrs. Josephine "Jo" B. Harner, 71, of Keymar, died suddenly Monday, April 5, 2010, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born Nov. 6, 1938, at Otterdale Mill, she was the daughter of the late G. Paul and Helen Carrie Lambert Crouse. She was the wife of William Ray Harner Sr., her husband of 52 years. Mrs. Harner was a 1956 graduate of Elmer A. Wolfe High School, Union Bridge, Md., and a member of Mount Union Lutheran Church.

MAY 12, 1936-NOV. 1, 2009 Mrs. Shirley Ann Muller, 73, of Middleburg, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at St. Catherine's Nursing Center, Emmitsburg. Born May 12, 1936, in Littlestown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Theron Thomas and Ruth Stavely Weaver. She was the wife of John Henry Muller, who predeceased her in 1991. Mrs. Muller was a member of Middleburg United Methodist Church. She was a housewife and enjoyed gardening, country music, camping, trips to Florida, bingo and Longaberger baskets.

Highest honors are earned for a semester grade point average of 3.90 or higher, high honors for a grade point average of 3.70-3.89, and honors for a 3.50-3.69 average. Lindsay M. Anderson of Williamsport, MD, received Highest Honors. Kristin A. Arbaugh of New Windsor, MD, received High Honors. Atlee T. Baker of Hagerstown, MD, received High Honors.

SEPT. 23, 1931-FEB. 11, 2009 INWOOD, W.Va. - John William "Bud" Wetzel, 77, of Inwood, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va. Born Sept. 23, 1931, in Union Bridge, Md., he was the son of the late John Morris Wetzel and Lenora Davis Shifler. He retired from Allegheny Energy after 44 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Taneytown, Md. He was a member of VFW Post 8806 of Union Bridge.

MAY 6, 1924-JAN. 20, 2009 Robert Rhoades Enterline, 84, of 1044 Benjamin Place in Hagerstown, Md., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown. Born Tuesday, May 6, 1924, in Ashland, Pa., he was the son of the late LeRoy E. Enterline and the late Nellie R. Weaver Enterline. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen E. Enterline, in 2007. He was a 1949 graduate of Lehigh University, where he received his degree in engineering.

MAY 1, 1945-JAN. 5, 2009 LEESBURG, Va. - Richard T. Ketron, 63, of Leesburg, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at Willow Tree Manor in Charles Town, W.Va. Born May 1, 1945, in Leesburg, he was the son of Mary Jewell Ketron of Leesburg and the late L.B. Ketron. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. In addition to his mother, he is survived by one daughter, Susan L. Sharp of Falling Waters, W.Va.; and five brothers, Robert Ketron of Leesburg, Ronnie Ketron of Rapedan, Va., David Ketron of Abbotstown, Pa., Donnie Ketron of Eagle Rock, Va., and Larry Ketron of Union Bridge, Md. Military graveside services will be held at a later date in Arlington (Va.)

FEB. 5, 1936-DEC. 27, 2008 Grace A. Otzelberger, 72, of 104 Broadway, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at Sinai Hospital, Baltimore. Born Feb. 5, 1936, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Harold Stanley Near and Clara Elizabeth Painter Near. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Hezekiah M. Moats, in 1973, and her second husband, Dixie Carl Otzelberger, in 1978. She was employed as youth supervisor at the Y.M.C.A. She was one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

APRIL 23, 1949-DEC. 16, 2008 Peggy Wanda Davis, 59, of 221 E. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, Md., died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, from injuries sustained in an accident in Martinsburg, W.Va. Born April 23, 1949, in Greenville, S.C., she was the daughter of Lillie Mae Smith Simpson of Myersville, Md., and the late Jesse Lee Simpson. She was a 1968 graduate of Williamsport High School. She was a supervisor with Team Sage Technologies in Martinsburg. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Temple of Hagerstown.
