Washington County District Judge Ralph H. France II set bond at $90,000 Monday for a man arrested last week on drug charges, court records state. Gregory A. Kroboth Jr., 21, of 3518 Western Pike in Hancock, was charged with possession of, distribution of and attempt to distribute cocaine, possession of marijuana and two counts each of possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia, court records state. The Washington County Narcotics task force alleged that Kroboth sold $50 worth of cocaine to an undercover agent in the parking lot of the Long Meadow Shopping Center on Sept.

By MARLO BARNHART Staff Writer An investigator with the Washington County Public Defender's office was charged Wednesday with illegal drug possession after he allegedly bought crack cocaine from an undercover drug agent, according to court records. Bruce Scott Gilbert, 33, of 706 S. Samuel St., Charles Town, W.Va., was charged with possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. He was released on personal recognizance, Washington County District Court records said. On Tuesday, Washington County Narcotics Task Force agents charged Ruki Kareem Medley with attempted distribution of illegal drugs.

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) -- Pennsylvania Attorney General Tom Corbett says a Franklin County man accused of traveling to York, Pa., to have sex with what he believed was a 14-year old girl, and a former girls' volleyball coach for a suburban Philadelphia school were among those arrested in an online sex sting. Corbett said Chad Randall Keefer, 43, of 13327 Locust Level Road, Greencastle, Pa., allegedly used an Internet chat room to approach an undercover agent who was using the online profile of a 13-year-old girl from York, Pa. Keefer allegedly asked if she would be interested in meeting so they could "play" -- explaining that he was interested in touching and feeling her, along with "whatever else" she would allow, Corbett said.

HARRISBURG, Pa. - A Mont Alto, Pa., man was charged last week with unlawful contact with a minor after allegedly trying to set up a meeting with a person he thought was a 14-year-old girl, according to a press release from Pennsylvania Attorney General Tom Corbett. Sandy Lee Daywalt, 48, of 5437 Anthony Highway, was taken into custody April 10 in Swatara Township in Dauphin County. He was there for what he believed was to be a meeting with the girl, according to the release. Daywalt was driving a vehicle fitting the description of one he had given an undercover officer during an online chat.

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - A 32-year-old Greencastle-area man has been charged by the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office in connection with an undercover operation in Internet chat rooms. Daniel Diaz, of 3300 Waynecastle Road, has been charged with one count each of unlawful contact with a minor and criminal use of a computer, Attorney General Tom Corbett said in a news release. Both are third-degree felonies punishable by up to seven years in prison and a $15,000 fine, according to the news release.

daniels@herald-mail.com Two people wanted on outstanding warrants from Maryland and Pennsylvania were apprehended Friday afternoon by Washington County Sheriff's Department deputies following a brief car chase that ended on Old Forge Road when the driver of the fleeing car crashed into an oncoming Sheriff's Department cruiser. James Anthony Reese, 26, of no fixed address, the driver of the gray Buick LeSabre involved in the chase, was wanted on three outstanding Washington County warrants dating back to April 2004, including felony theft, attempted felony theft and fourth-degree burglary, according to Greg Alton, an investigator with the Washington County Sheriff's Department.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Three people were arraigned in Berkeley County Magistrate Court Friday on drug-related charges after two operations by members of the Eastern Panhandle Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, according to court records. Florintino Hernandez of P.O. Box 2064 in Wauchula, Fla., and Efrain Marcos Lopez of 1670 Fort Braddock in Winchester, Va., each were charged with conspiracy to distribute cocaine, according to records. According to a complaint filed by West Virginia State Police Cpl. B.W. Bean, task force members gave an undercover individual $2,000 to purchase two ounces of cocaine at a Berkeley County home on Thursday.

ST. THOMAS, Pa. - A Franklin County resident was among three men recently arrested in an Internet sex sting operation, according to a press release from Pennsylvania Attorney General Tom Corbett. Franklin Shane Barrick, 37, of 135 Cottonwood Ave., was arrested in connection with an alleged series of sexually graphic chats with an undercover agent posing as a 13-year old girl, Corbett said. Barrick was charged with four counts of unlawful contact with a minor, one count of criminal use of a computer and one count of identity theft, Corbett said.

A Falling Waters, W.Va., woman was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison this week after pleading guilty in Washington County Circuit Court to distribution of heroin. Circuit Judge Donald E. Beachley sentenced Melissa Marie Vandegriff, 35, of 230 Kurtis Drive, to eight years in state prison, but suspended 5 1/2 of those years. He ordered her to spend three years on probation after her release from prison. In exchange for her plea, the state dismissed two counts each of possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession with intent to distribute narcotics, and one count of criminal conspiracy to distribute narcotics, according to court documents.

FAYETTEVILLE, PA. A Fayetteville man is in Dauphin County (Pa.) Prison on charges he attempted to lure a 12-year-old girl into meeting him after discussions in an Internet chat room with an undercover agent with the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office. Bradley L. Doyle, 34, of 5500 Lincoln Way East, Lot 7C, was arrested Monday at a Harrisburg, Pa., area mall, and agents found a rope, sexual aid and lotion in his vehicle, according to a news release from Attorney General Tom Corbett's office.
