A Hagerstown man was charged with pointing a shotgun out of the window of a car at a tractor-trailer on Interstate 81 early Tuesday in what Maryland State Police are describing as a road rage incident. Brandon Scott Castle, 20, of Hagerstown, was charged with first-degree assault and reckless endangerment in the incident. He was a passenger in a car driven by Alan Vincent Saunders, 21, of Hagerstown, state police said in a press release. Saunders was not charged. The driver of the tractor trailer told officers he was traveling north on I-81 south of U.S. 40 when the car pulled up next to him in the fast lane, the front passenger window was rolled down, and a shotgun pointed at the window on the driver's side of the tractor, state police said.

Rescue workers and police worked for hours Monday night at the scene of a tractor-trailer crash on eastbound Interstate 70 near Hancock. Adam Vanhorn, 25, of Lancaster, Ohio, was driving a 2013 Kenworth near the 3-mile marker when he went to the right side of the interstate and overturned on a guardrail about 5 p.m., according to Maryland State Police. Vanhorn suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. A state police spokesman said Monday night that investigators were still trying to determine what caused Vanhorn to wreck.

A Woodsboro, Md., man has been identified as the driver killed in a tractor-trailer accident Monday morning at the intersection of Md. 75 and Clemsonville Road, Maryland State Police said. Terry Lee Myers, 58, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 6:15 a.m. accident, police said. He was driving the tractor-trailer south on Clemsonville Road when he failed to negotiate a curve at the intersection, causing the tractor-trailerĀ  to overturn into a culvert, police said. The intersection was closed until shortly before 2 p.m. to allow for removal of the truck, police said.

One person was taken to the hospital Wednesday morning after a tractor trailer accident on I-81 north of Maugansville, according to Maryland State Police. The accident happened shortly before 3 a.m. when the driver of the tractor-trailer, John Kluka, of Dover, Pa., fell asleep at the wheel while heading southbound on I-81, state police said in a news release. The tractor-trailer went off the roadway and down the embankment, police said. Kluka was taken to Meritus Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the release.

A Georgia man has been charged with striking a tractor-trailer with clay pigeons that were thrown from a highway overpass Tuesday in Bethel Township, Pa., Pennsylvania State Police said. Benny Franklin McDaniel, of Ray City, Ga., was charged with propulsion of missiles and criminal mischief, according to a state police news release. Troopers allege the incident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday, when a number of orange clay pigeons were thrown from the Mill Hill overpass above Interstate 70 eastbound in Fulton County.

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - A tractor-trailer hit a highway route sign on South Main Street at 11:46 p.m. Tuesday, Mercersburg police said in a news release. Gurpreet Singh, 23, of California, was cited for causing an accident involving damage to unattended property, police said. Police said Singh also hit a reflective pole sign on Constitution Avenue while backing up his tractor-trailer. The impact punctured a fuel tank on the vehicle, causing it to leak diesel fuel.

Two people were taken to Meritus Medical Center on Sunday afternoon after a pickup truck ended up under the trailer portion of a tractor-trailer on eastbound Interstate 68 near Sideling Hill, a Washington County 911 supervisor said. Both of the injured were in the pickup truck, the 911 supervisor said. Neither of the injured was believed to have life-threatening injuries, according to Washington County Emergency Services and Maryland State Police. The accident, west of Hancock, was reported at 4:16 p.m., the 911 supervisor said.

Southbound Interstate 81 at Exit 23 (U.S. 11) was closed for more than 10 hours Monday night and Tuesday morning after a tractor-trailer hauling fish wrecked and landed on its side Monday night, West Virginia State Police said. The crash was reported at 9:14 p.m. Monday at the on-ramp from U.S. 11 to southbound I-81 near the 23-mile marker, a Berkeley County Emergency Services spokeswoman said. Both southbound lanes had reopened by 8 a.m. Tuesday, state police said. Southbound traffic was being routed off I-81 at Exit 23 onto U.S. 11 and back onto the interstate at Exit 20 (Spring Mills)
