Police are investigating the theft of a woman's purse and the use of her debit card to withdraw money from her account. The Mercersburg Police Department said in a news release someone stole the victim's purse and wallet from her 1993 Ford pickup sometime between Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. and Jan. 14 at 8:45 a.m. The victim told police she thought she had locked the truck, which was parked across from 63 Linden Ave. in the borough. Police said items stolen from the truck were valued at $816.

Two Hagerstown men have been charged in connection with the theft of copper wire from trucks of a utility company which had come to Washington County to help the region deal with the after effects of Hurricane Sandy last month, according to a Washington County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman. Timothy Blake Miller, 21, of 17548 Gay St., and Richard Dalton Vanes, 20, of 17328 Diane Drive, are each charged with rogue and vagabond, theft between $1,000 and $10,000, burglary tools, conspiracy to commit rogue and vagabond and conspiracy to commit theft, according to a news release from Carly Hose, public information officer for the sheriff's office.

A Hagerstown man was among three people charged in a Friday night theft and assault at a Frederick liquor store, Frederick police said. Kiancey Jamel Slocumb, who turned 21 on Friday, was charged with second-degree assault, disorderly conduct, theft under $100 and criminal conspiracy to commit theft, police said. His address was listed as the 300 block of South Potomac Street in Hagerstown. At 6:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of an armed robbery in progress at Westridge Liquors at 1045 W. Patrick St., police said.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A mother and daughter were charged in a case of retail theft that escalated to a robbery Sunday night that also placed a grandchild in danger, according to Chambersburg police. Justina W. Woodson, 26, of 1645 Scotland Ave., and her mother, Patricia Y. Glasco, 43, of the same address, both were charged with retail theft and criminal conspiracy to commit retail theft, police said. Woodson was also charged with robbery, aggravated and simple assault, while Glasco was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, police said.

Pair charged in Pa. car theft CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Chambersburg man and a juvenile were charged with receiving stolen property and conspiracy in connection with the theft of a new car from a borough car dealership last week, Chambersburg Police said. David Darby, 23, of 260 Larch Ave., and a 17-year-old male, were charged after police became suspicious of the vehicle Feb. 7 and began to monitor it. Police spotted the 2001 GMC Jimmy parked on East Irva Drive at the Chambersburg Housing Authority around 9 p.m. Feb. 7. The officers became suspicious because the vehicle still had dealership stickers in its windows but had a license plate, police said.

A Washington County Circuit Court judge Tuesday ordered a Williamsport man who pleaded guilty in March to participating in a series of 2011 residential burglaries to serve four years in prison and pay more than $28,000 in restitution to victims and their insurers. John David Reddick, 40, of 15737 Fenton Ave., Apt. 2, had pleaded guilty to four counts of theft from $1,000 to $10,000, according to court records. Judge John H. McDowell sentenced him to 20 years in prison with 16 years suspended, the court records said.

FUNKSTOWN - Three Funkstown residents were charged Friday with theft from the Starlite Inn, at 41 Frederick Road, at about 3 a.m. earlier that day, Maryland State Police in Hagerstown said. Charles Richard Thompson, 23, and Eric Steven Campanelli, 20, both of Frederick Road, were charged with theft of over $300 and second and fourth degree burglary, police said. Linda Dawn Campanelli, 23, also of Frederick Road, was charged with theft of over $300, police said. When police arrived at the Starlite Inn at 6:55 a.m. Friday in response to a call from the owner, Chris Alan Schultz, they found that burglars had entered through the locked front door, police said.

HAGERSTOWN - Hagerstown police were looking for the man charged in the Dec. 14 theft of a wheelchair from the Wal-Mart on Garland Groh Boulevard, Sgt. Paul Kifer said Thursday. John Raymond Huntzberry, 18, was charged with felony theft, Kifer said in a telephone interview. Tony Faison, 23, of Hagerstown, left his wheelchair with the store's greeter while he used a motorized cart to do some shopping that day. When he returned to find his chair missing, Faison, who has spastic paraplegia, was left wondering how he would get home or to his job as a stocker at a convenience store, or how he would afford to replace the $3,000 chair that was custom-built to keep his disability from getting any worse.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- A Martinsburg man was charged in connection with the theft of a video game system and other items Friday night from a home in the 100 block of Maple Avenue, according to a Martinsburg Police Department press release. John Andrew Jollon, 45, of Polo Green Drive, was charged with burglary, police said. In addition, Jorge Alberto Silva, 42, of Rubens Circle in Martinsburg, was charged with possession or transfer of stolen property and obstructing an officer after police determined he bought the video game system and a stolen mp3 player from Jollon, police said.

Maryland State Police charged a Cumberland, Md., man with theft Friday after he was found driving a stolen West Virginia vehicle following a brief chase. Christopher Lee Coleman Sr., 39, was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, rogue and vagabond, malicious destruction of property and numerous traffic charges, Sgt. Dave Keller said. Coleman was driving a 1992 green Jeep Cherokee containing alleged burglary tools when troopers stopped him in Frederick, Keller said. The vehicle, which had a valid West Virginia registration, had been last seen in Hancock before troopers located it driving east at Braddock Mountain at about 2:50 p.m., he said.
