The Greens Show and Afterglow, presented by Crossroads Garden Club, will be held Sunday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. in the auditorium of the Women's Club at 31 S. Prospect St. in Hagerstown. Tickets cost $12. The presenter will be Jeanne Ha of Park Florist, in Takoma Park, Md. Ha has taught floral design classes and is a co-founder of the Shover School of Floral Design. Door prizes and refreshments will be available. Tickets are available through any Crossroads Garden Club member or by calling the Women's Club at 301-739-0870 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

AUG. 16, 1925-MAY 9, 2011 Eugene Mitchell Brown Jr., 85, formerly of Takoma Park, Md., died Monday, May 9, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, Md. Born Aug. 16, 1925, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Eugene M. and Jessie L. (Dickens) Brown Sr. Eugene graduated from Dunbar High School, Class of 1943, in Washington, D.C. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He later retired from the Washington Plaza Hotel on DuPont Circle, Washington, D.C., where he was a bell-hop and union representative for many years.

Dorothy Irene Burch, 96, of Hyattsville, Md., and formerly of Brunswick, Md., died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, at Washington Adventist Hospital, Takoma Park, Md. Visitation will be Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, Brunswick. The service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Park Heights Cemetery.

Born Feb. 12, 1948, in Takoma Park, Md., he was the son of the late Loren W. and Mary M. (Heckman) Franzina. He was a graduate of Smithsburg High School, Class of 1967. He retired from Gypsum Dry Wall Co. of Dundalk, Md., formerly Goldbond Dry Wall Co., and was formerly employed by Keystone Homes of Waynesboro, Pa. He was a member of AARP.

MAY 25, 1960-NOV. 15, 2009 BRUNSWICK, Md. - John Thomas Lucas Jr., 49, of Brunswick, Md., passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at home. John was born in Takoma Park, Md., on May 25, 1960. He was the son of the late John T. Lucas Sr. and Joan M. Ingersoll. John was an avid fan of fishing, Baltimore Orioles, NASCAR and the Washington Redskins. John is survived by his mother Joan, stepfather Jeff Ingersoll, sister Theresa and husband Brent Webb, and brother Doug and wife Darla Ayers.

Medical Center in Hershey, Pa., contained incorrect information. Born Oct. 29, 1936, in Takoma Park, Md., he was the son of the late Harry Dulany Catts Sr. and E. Louise (Bowman) Catts-Buscher.

Born Oct. 27, 1965, in Takoma Park, Md., he was the son of Joel Taylor of Fort Myers Beach, Fla. and Carroll A. Robertson Taylor of Kearneysville, W.Va. He was a Protestant. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sons, Wayne S. Taylor Jr. of Huntington, W.Va.

Dix Horine, 80, of 17825 Bluebell Drive, Hagerstown, Md., went to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown. Born Tuesday, June 5, 1928, in Brunswick, Md., he was the son of the late Arlington Lee Willard Horine and Margaret E. Duvall Horine. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He graduated from Bliss Electrical School in Takoma Park, Md., where he received his degree in Industrial Electrical Engineering.

The Hawks used a 7-0 run with about six minutes left to gain a nine-point lead. Hagerstown stepped up its defensive intensity with seven blocks from John Long and nine total steals. Long also had 20 points and 14 rebounds. Sheridan Price had 12 points and 10 rebounds, Will Taylor had nine points and 12 rebounds and Q'Monte Matheny had 10 points for the Hawks (13-4, 6-2)
