The fourth annual Footin' For Animals non-competitive 5K and 10K fun walk/run to benefit the Briggs Animal Adoption Center is rain or shine Saturday, Nov. 3, at the State Arboretum of Virginia at Blandy Farm in Boyce, Va. Robert Priest was featured as a mentalist at an all-night Waynesboro(Pa.) Area Senior High School graduation party hosted by Communities That Care. The organization throws the party each year after graduation to ensure youths have a safe place to spend the night without alcohol or driving. Communities That Care gave away a television, mini-refrigerator, and computer and gift cards, and had swimming, a caricature artist, food, volleyball and T-shirt painting available to the 78 graduates in attendance.

The Vince Tantillo/Jack E. Barr 5K Memorial Run and 1K Ice Cream Run will be Saturday, June 18. The event supports the Hagerstown YMCA Kids to Camp program and Barr Construction Institute apprenticeship classes. The 5K race starts at 8:30 a.m. and the Ice Cream Run begins at 9:30 a.m. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. The 5K entry fee costs $20, which includes T-shirt (limited number of T-shirts). The entry fee for the Ice Cream Run costs $12, which includes T-shirt, medallions and ice cream.

RANSON, W.Va.-- A suspect with a poor sense of timing was being held at the Eastern Regional Jail on a $100,000 bond on two charges of armed robbery following Monday-morning incidents, Ranson police said. Sgt. Todd D. Lutman Sr. said the first incident occurred at the 7-Eleven on South Mildred Street at 5:30 a.m. The second, at 10 a.m., was at Sofia's, a gaming facility at Ranson Square Shopping Center. In both incidents, the suspect, identified as Alexis Rios Conde, 31, entered the establishment, pulled over his head a T-shirt with eye holes cut out, approached employees and showed a weapon, Lutman said.

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. (AP) - The Morgan County Board of Education has backed a group of high school students wearing T-shirts in favor of national health care coverage. In a statement released Friday, Superintendent David Banks said the shirts fall within students' First Amendment right to free speech. Del. Daryl Cowles, R-Morgan, raised questions about the Berkeley Springs High School students' shirts. Cowles said he was worried they were being manipulated by the group Single Payer Action, which produced the shirts.

Grace Academy will host the Washington County Dodgeball Tournament Saturday, May 23, starting at 10 a.m. at the school at 13321 Cearfoss Pike in Hagerstown. The team entry costs $450 for a maximum 10-person team. Each team must be comprised of at least two women. You must be 18 or older to participate. Businesses organizations and churches are encouraged to enter a team. The top two teams will win prizes and trophies. Participants will receive a T-shirt.
