A 21-year-old woman is charged with being involved in the robbery of a man who told police he was robbed and left alongside a road after being ordered to remove his clothes, according to Berkeley County Magistrate Court records. Chelsea Renae Thompson of 48 Oak Hill Court, Harpers Ferry, W.Va., was arraigned Sunday on one count of first-degree robbery and one count of conspiracy, according to court documents. The victim told police that $50, his wallet, keys, mobile phone, pants, underwear and shoes were taken in the Oct. 13 robbery, according to court documents.

Van Lear Brethren in Christ Church, 10745 Van Lear Drive, will hold a candlelight service Sunday, beginning at 7 p.m. There will be refreshments after the service. The community is invited. Children's Christmas play The children's Christmas program will present the play “Being Not So Silent Christmas” at Calvary Temple, 147 S. Conococheague St., Sunday at 10:30 a.m. The community is invited. Free Christmas dinner to be served at church The Shepherd's Table, sponsored by the Williamsport Ministerium, will be open for its seventh annual Christmas dinner Tuesday, Dec. 25. Dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The dinner is free for anyone who would like to come.

Washington Square United Methodist Church, at 538 Washington Ave. in Hagerstown, will present a Christmas cantata titled “A Song in the Air” by Dennis and Nan Allen Sunday at 7 p.m. in the Washington Square sanctuary. Singers from Washington Square, St. Matthew's and Grace UMC choirs will  participate with direction by Rita Haines. There will also be a traditional nativity pageant with live animals. Refreshments will be served after the program in the pew hall and children can also visit the nativity animals.

The fifth annual Miss Appalachia competition is Saturday, Jan. 19. Young women ages 13 to 17 may enter the Outstanding Teen competition, and those ages 18 to 23 may enter the Miss competition. There is also a sign-up for girls ages 3 to 9 for the Princess program, and 9 to 12 for the Preteen program. The Princess program is a mentoring program only. The winners will compete for the title of Miss Maryland in June in Hagerstown. Deadline to enter the Miss Appalachia competition is Sunday, Dec. 30. The winners will  serve as a role model for young women and  as an ambassador for The Miss America Organization.
