Stratum

Fifteen pairs competed Friday, Feb. 17, during a meeting of the Little Heiskell Duplicate Bridge Club in Hagerstown. In the North/South direction, Jean Toth and Rick Elbo finished first in the A stratum with 65.97 percent. Ron Clawson and Carl Herrick came in second in A and first in B with 59.38 percent, and Anne Carden and Mary Wolfinger were third in A with 54.17 percent. Barbara Couch and Nancy Burger placed second in B and first in C with 47.22 percent. In the East/West direction, Alan Brown and Frank Carden finished first in the A stratum with 66.27 percent, and Elaine Rowe and Judy Ochs came in second in A with 57.94 percent.

On Friday, Sept. 9, the Little Heiskell Duplicate Bridge Club held a charity game for the benefit of Hurricane Katrina victims. The winners of that event were: first in A stratum, Lois and Richard Taylor with 67.26 percent. Second in A were Elaine Rowe and Robert Munger with 57.74 percent. Margaret Peirce and Iris Yonetz placed third in A with 57.14 percent. In the B stratum, Jack and Pat Mesner were first with 50 percent. Second place in B went to Joann Fillingham and Barbara Gaydick with 49.4 percent.
