Ten pairs competed Friday, April 4, during a meeting of the Little Heiskell Duplicate Bridge Club. Neil Carstensen and Elaine Rowe finished first in the A stratum with a 69.44-percent game. Jean Toth and Rick Elbo came in second in Flight A with 59.72 percent, and Tim Smith and Donald Maggard finished third with 56.02 percent. Frank and Anne Carden came in fourth in Flight A and first in Flight B with 50.46 percent, and Barbara Burkhardt and Alan Brown were second in Flight B and first in Flight C with 47.69 percent.

On Sunday, July 16, the Little Heiskell Duplicate Bridge Club conducted the fourth annual two-session Charity Swiss Team duplicate bridge game to raise money for Food Resources Inc. Since 1987 Food Resources Inc. has served the area as a regional nonprofit food warehouse from which other area charitable organizations can obtain food to benefit people in need. Food is collected via local food drives and is purchased with Food Resources funds. Fourteen four-player teams from Hagerstown, Charles Town, W.Va.

On Friday, Sept. 9, the Little Heiskell Duplicate Bridge Club held a charity game for the benefit of Hurricane Katrina victims. The winners of that event were: first in A stratum, Lois and Richard Taylor with 67.26 percent. Second in A were Elaine Rowe and Robert Munger with 57.74 percent. Margaret Peirce and Iris Yonetz placed third in A with 57.14 percent. In the B stratum, Jack and Pat Mesner were first with 50 percent. Second place in B went to Joann Fillingham and Barbara Gaydick with 49.4 percent.

The Little Heiskell Duplicate Bridge Club had a busy few days, playing its regular game Friday, July 13, and holding a fundraiser Sunday, July 15. Fourteen pairs competed Friday during a meeting of the Little Heiskell Duplicate Bridge Club in Hagerstown. In the North/South direction, Dennis Wick and Will Garner finished first in the A stratum with a 62.8 percent game. Joann Fillingham and Alan Brown placed second in A and first in B and C with 56.55 percent, and Elaine Rowe and Bob Munger were third in A with 56.25 percent.
