“When one is hurting, we all are hurting,” Bobby Hays said. The pastor of Hays' church, the Rev. Tim Fisher, was indeed hurting. His half brother, Kenneth Goins, 50, lost his daughter, Hope, 3, to injuries sustained in an April apartment fire on Summit Avenue. The fire also claimed the life of Goins' 43-year-old wife, Patricia. “We felt a need to help out (Fisher) and his family,” Hays said. “Whatever we can do, we wanted to do.” The desire to help inspired a spaghetti dinner Saturday at the Best Western Grand Venice Hotel Wedding and Conference Center to benefit the Hope Goins Fund.

“My comment is this. To everyone who helped find Lucy, our lost beagle: Lucy was found safe and sound today. Thanks to everyone for the never-ending support, encouragement, and most of all, prayers. We took Lucy to the vet this afternoon immediately after we found her, and she (received) a clean bill of health - our perfect little Christmas present. Thanks a lot.” - Hagerstown “In regard to the spaghetti tacos: I lived in Honduras for nearly 20 years, and it was very common to have spaghetti tacos over the holidays, along with eggplant pancakes.” - Hagerstown “For years the Republicans have said that tax cuts do not need to be paid for, but now when it comes to the extension of the payroll tax, which benefits mainly the middle class, it has to be paid for. This should really show us where their priorities lie.” - Waynesboro, Pa. “For the people and others calling for Allan Powell and all of us to stop bashing Bush and Cheney because they are no longer in office, they should be blaming President Obama because he's trying to appease his union buddies, well, at least Obama, and especially unions try to stand up and do what's best for the poor and middle-class people.
