Sagittarius Salon and Spa presented a check for $17,240 in February to the Antietam Healthcare Foundation. The money was raised when the salon held a wellness and beauty auction, "Celebrating 35 Years of Beauty," with proceeds benefiting the John R. Marsh Cancer Center. The money will be used for the cancer center's Patient Resource Navigator program, which is a partnership between the South Atlantic Division of the American Cancer Society (ACS) and Washington County Hospital.

The Center for Continuing Education at Hagerstown Community College is offering two courses for those wanting to become certified or update their certification as a pool and spa operator. Both courses are taught by Renee Brandenburg-Huffer of Aquatic Training Services. The "Certified Pool Operator" course prepares students for the State of Maryland Health Department Examination to become a certified swimming pool operator. Students must be at least 16 years old to register for the class.

Francisco Silva's smile was beaming Thursday afternoon as he talked about his new business location on North Potomac Street in downtown Hagerstown. “I wanted to come downtown; more busy, more traffic,” said Silva, owner of Kerry's Hair and Day Spa at 35 N. Potomac St. “That way I can build my salon and also my stylists.” Attended by numerous city officials and a representative from U.S. Congressman John Delaney's office, a grand opening and ribbon-cutting event was held to officially welcome the City Center business, which was transplanted from Silva's former location on East Franklin Street.

JLG Industries Inc. McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - JLG Industries Inc., an Oshkosh Corp. company, is adding a new model to its line of telehandlers. The JLG G10-43A will be marketed for use in commercial and residential construction, including steel erection and framing. It includes standard outriggers, a maximum capacity of 10,000 pounds and a capacity of 7,000 pounds at the maximum reach height of 43 feet. The model features pilot-operated joystick controls, a wrap-around dashboard and easy-to-read gauges.
