Wednesday, January 30, 2013 MEN'S BASKETBALL WALDORF, Md. - Antonio Jenifer scored 35 points and Hagerstown Community College overcame 10 3-pointers by the College of Southern Maryland in a 101-98 Maryland JuCo Conference win on Wednesday. Jenifer added 11 rebounds and three blocks for the Hawks (21-2, 8-1), who are ranked 12th in this week's NJCAA Division I poll. Jenifer is two points shy of 1,000 for his career. Kervin Rameau had 19 points, nine rebounds, three assists and four steals, Christian Leach had 16 points and Donte Thomas had nine points, six rebounds and 17 assists for the Hawks, who were 24 of 33 from the charity stripe.

While Tuesday may have been on the chilly side, the Hagerstown Community College baseball team's bats managed to warm up for at least part of the afternoon. The Hawks bounced back from a 10-2 loss in the opener by pounding out an 11-4 victory in the nightcap to gain a split of a Maryland JuCo Conference doubleheader with the College of Southern Maryland. “It was two completely different games,” HCC coach Scott Jennings said. “It was like night and day for us. In the first game, they just outplayed us. They had better hitting, better pitching and better defense.

Life on the road was a lonely place for the Hagerstown Community College volleyball team. But in league games, the Hawks feel at home. HCC continued its rebound from five losses suffered in a season-opening tournament in Toledo, Ohio, by sweeping past the College of Southern Maryland 25-19, 25-18, 25-14 for a second straight Maryland JuCo Conference victory on Wednesday at the HCC athletic complex. “It was a good win against a good team,” HCC coach Ann Reynolds said. “But they outhustled us. When we played our game, things ran well.

LA PLATA, Md. - Latoya Buckner had 20 points, 10 rebounds and three steals as Hagerstown Community College remained undefeated with an 87-68 Maryland JuCo Conference victory over Southern Maryland on Friday. Amy Rhoderick scored eight of her 12 points in the final eight minutes of the first half as the Hawks built a 48-28 halftime advantage. Cara Thompson and Teonna Jewell each had five assists for the Hawks (18-0, 9-0). HCC outrebounded Southern Maryland, 45-27. Chantal Hebron scored 25 points, while Tanya Sites added 17 points for Southern Maryland.

It was Hawks vs. Hawks Wednesday night in Maryland JuCo Conference volleyball action at the Hagerstown Community College athletic complex. In the end, the College of Southern Maryland soared higher, as its Hawks downed the HCC Hawks, 30-12, 27-30, 27-30, 30-18, 15-8. Both Southern Maryland (6-4, 5-0) and Catonsville remain undefeated in conference play and are tied for first place in the conference. Hagerstown (9-6, 4-1) and Frederick follow them in the standings. "Hagerstown is definitely going to be one of the strongest teams to beat in the Region XX Tournament like they are every single year," Southern Maryland coach Michelle Ruble said.

An early 20-point run put the Hagerstown Community College women’s basketball team in the driver’s seat as HCC cruised to a 91-32 win over the College of Southern Maryland at HCC’s athletic complex in the play-in round of the Maryland JuCo Conference tournament Tuesday. “I just think that it was so awesome,” said HCC sophomore Tashia Caldwell, who had 10 points in the 20-point run. “We never play in the first half. Six-foot sophomore Yolonda Pinkcett finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Hagerstown Community College women over the College of Southern Maryland 78-41 on Saturday evening in a Maryland JuCo Conference game at the HCC athletic complex. “I was trying to put up the missed shots,” Pinkcett said. “I am just glad that they are going in. I try to get on the weak side to get the rebounds. Some of our shots weren't falling. But where we were lacking, we made up in another area.” Pinkcett averages 10.4 rebounds per game for the Hawks.

The Hagerstown Community College men earned their fourth straight win and seventh in eight games with a 101-83 victory over the College of Southern Maryland on Saturday. Antonio Jenifer paced Hagerstown with a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds. “(Jenifer) was huge tonight,” Hagerstown coach Barry Brown said. “Our depth played a huge role, though. We had a lot of guys coming off the bench.” The homestanding Hawks' bench outscored the visiting Hawks' bench, 24-18.

Sunday, March 11, 2012 COLLEGE SOFTBALL Hawks finish second LA PLATA, Md. - Hagerstown Community College played back-to-back-to-back games on consecutive days at the College of Southern Maryland tournament over the weekend, finishing as the tournament runner-up with a 5-1 record. The Hawks swept their three pool-play games Saturday to earn the top seed for Sunday's bracket play. They beat CCBC-Dundalk 10-1 and Southern Maryland 4-1 to reach the tournament final before running out of gas in a five-inning, 8-0 loss to Anne Arundel in the championship game.

Sunday, February 12, 2012 COLLEGE BASKETBALL The postseason begins for Hagerstown Community College on Tuesday when the men's and women's basketball teams host first round games in the Maryland JuCo Tournament. HCC's women (22-3) are seeded fourth and will host College of Southern Maryland, the 13th seed, in a play-in game at 2 p.m. at the HCC athletic complex. The game provides Hawks coach Marlys Palmer, who will retire after this season, a final postseason appearance on the home floor.

Thursday, May 5, 2011 COLLEGE SOFTBALL KEYSER, W.Va. — Megan Peomroy pitched two victories and Hagerstown Community College’s defense was flawless on Thursday as the No. 6-seeded Hawks swept a pair of play-in games to advance to this weekend’s Region XX Final Four tournament. HCC blanked fifth-seeded College of Southern Maryland 9-0 in the opener and advanced to knock off fourth-seed Potomac State 3-1 to earn a berth to play top-seeded Cecil on Saturday in the double-elimination final four.
