Monday, April 29, 2013 BOYS LACROSSE St. Maria Goretti 13, Trinity 6 FAIRFAX, Va. - Mike Ewing had five goals and four assists and Matt Casto had four goals and four assists for St. Maria Goretti in a 13-6 Metro Independent Lacrosse League victory over Trinity Christian on Monday. Morgan Kenworthy had two goals and an assist for the Gaels (11-6, 5-2) while Wyatt Derr had a goal and an assist, Graham Horst had a goal, Willie Spinnler had an assist and Mike Fairley had 10 saves in the victory.

Tuesday, April 16, 2013 PREP SOFTBALL Clear Spring 13-7, Berkeley Springs 6-1 BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Tori Albert drove in the game-winning run with a single in the second game that gave Clear Spring a sweep over Berkeley Springs. Jenna Knable had tied the game with a sacrifice fly. Albert had three hits for Clear Spring (8-1) in the second game. Sarah Elwood had four hits and Sarah Blickenstaff had three hits for Clear Spring in the second game.

Friday, April 12, 2013 PREP SOFTBALL Williamsport 10, Boonsboro 9 WILLIAMSPORT - Williamsport needed nine innings to get its first win of the season Friday against Boonsboro in an MVAL Antietam game. Kate Wade earned the win on the mound for Williamsport (1-7, 1-5). Tristen Hartle hit two three-run homers for Boonsboro (0-7, 0-5) and Natelie Tobrey added a two-run shot, but the Warriors committed nine errors. Southern Fulton eighth-grader Olivia Mottern recently was named the Knights of Columbus Pennsylvania State Foul Shooting U13 champion at Trinity High School near Camp Hill, Pa. Tuesday, March 19, 2013 GIRLS BASKETBALL ENOLA, Pa. - Southern Fulton finished its season with an 82-45 loss to Tri-Valley in the PIAA Class A state semifinals on Tuesday night. Macey Hollenshead had 13 points and four assists for the Indians (26-4), while Kayla Wertz had 11 points, including three 3-pointers, Taelor Morton had four assists and Ashley Roman had six rebounds in the loss. The regularly scheduled meeting of the Southern Fulton School Board has been postponed a week, according to a news release from Anita Munson, the board secretary. The board was scheduled to meet Tuesday, but will meet March 26 instead, according to the release. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the Southern Fulton High School library.

Coming into the game, Southern Fulton's coach Terry Bard told senior center Ashley Roman that this game was her's to dominate. And, dominate she did. Roman scorched Halifax for 24 points - including 12 in the third quarter - as the Indians declawed the Wildcats 73-34 in the second round of the Class A PIAA state tournament. “We knew we had an advantage (in the post),” Bard said. “Ashley had one heck of a game. I told her in practice that she can dominate if she wanted to. I guess she wanted to.” With the victory, Southern Fulton advances to the quarterfinals against Lourdes Regional on Saturday at a time and place yet to be determined.

Saturday, February 23, 2013 BOYS BASKETBALL WASHINGTON - Saint James could not make it three wins in one season over Sidwell Friends, losing to the Quakers 71-55 in the semifinals of the Mid-Atlantic Conference tournament on Saturday. The Saints (13-14) owned a pair of regular-season wins over Sidwell (21-7), but the Quakers caught fire in the second half Saturday and spent plenty of time at the foul line - making 21 of 40 free throws to Saint James' 11 of 17. Nnamdi Enechionyia led the Saints with 17 points and nine rebounds.
