It is a big week for football and school spirit at South Hagerstown High School. The homecoming game is Friday against the Smithsburg Leopards. The South High Rebels are a perfect 5-0. It is the best start for a South High football team since quarterback Phil Petry led the Rebels to an undefeated 9-0 season 50 years ago in 1962. Game time Friday is at 7 p.m. There will be a homecoming bonfire Thursday at 9 p.m., following the South High soccer game. Saturday evening will be South high's homecoming dance.

BALTIMORE - Brett Meyers, son of Bob and Misha Meyers of Hagerstown, graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a master of science degree in computer science in August. Brett received his undergraduate degree from UMBC in 2006. He is a 2003 graduate of South Hagerstown High School. Brett is a software engineer at Lockheed Martin. STEVENSON, Md. - The following Washington County residents were named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Stevenson University.

Wilcox recently announced administrative changes for the remainder of the 2012-13 school year and other transfers that will take place officially on July 1. Lowery-O'Rourke Julia Katherine O'Rourke and Robert Lewis Lowery were married Sept. 9, 2006, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Hagerstown. The bride is the daughter of Tim and Marilyn O'Rourke of Hagerstown. The bridegroom is the son of Cindy Lowery and Lewis Lowery, both of Hagerstown. The bride is a 1998 graduate of South Hagerstown High School and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Shepherd University in 2003. She is employed as a credit manager with Citicorp Credit Services, north of Hagerstown.

Wedding Announcements for 12/9 Gregory-Young Stephanie Alexis Young and Eugene Joseph Gregory Jr. were married Saturday, June 10, 2000, at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church in Hagerstown. The bride is the daughter of Patricia and Terry Young of Hagerstown. The bridegroom is the son of Mary A. Hoffman of Hagerstown and Eugene J. Gregory Sr. of Kentucky. The bride is a 1992 graduate of South Hagerstown High School, received a bachelor of science degree in economics and political science from Boston University in 1996, and received a juris doctorate degree from The Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law in 1999.

Anais Delilah Fournier, 14, of 669 Highland Way, Hagerstown, Md., died Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, due to sudden cardiac arrest. Born Feb. 28, 1997, in Frederick, Md., she was the daughter of Wendy (Kline) Crossland of Hagerstown and Richard Fournier, formerly of San Antonio, Texas. She was an avid honor student at South Hagerstown High School. Anais was a caring and giving person who donated her organs to help others avoid a similar tragedy.
