Billy and Cathy Wright of Hagerstown announce the engagement of their son, Andrew Jason Wright, to Shanna Renee Barr, daughter of Candy and Pierre Cline, Gary Barr Sr. and stepdaughter of Tim Bible, all of Hagerstown. Mr. Wright is a 1995 graduate of Smithsburg High School. He is employed at Xerxes in Hagerstown. Ms. Barr is a 1999 graduate of South Hagerstown High School. She is a 2005 graduate of Hagerstown Business College with an associate of applied science degree in health information technology.

Katie Murray-Starliper and Nick Mollo were married Saturday, June 7, 2008, at Christ's Reformed Church. The bride is the daughter of Craig and Linda Murray of Hagerstown. She is a 1998 graduate of South Hagerstown High School and received an Associate of Arts degree from Hagerstown Community College. She is employed as a referral specialist at Hagerstown Heart P.A. The bridegroom is the son of Sharon Mollo of Hagerstown and the late Arthur Mollo. He is a 1996 graduate of Williamsport High School and Career Studies Center and attended Hagerstown Community College.

The Alsatia Club awarded this year's Robert and Hilda Worthington Memorial Scholarship to Reginald Lushbaugh Jr., a South Hagerstown High School graduate. Lushbaugh is the son of Reginald and Lori Lushbaugh of Hagerstown. He plans to pursue a degree in business at Hagerstown Community College and Shepherd University. The $500 Worthington Scholarship was established by Hilda Worthington in memory of her husband, Robert, and is administered by the Alsatia Club for children and grandchildren of Alsatia members.

FEB. 24, 1983-FEB. 7, 2011 Anthony Andrew Hodges Jr., 27, of  Hagerstown, Md., passed away, Monday, Feb. 7, 2011. Born Thursday, Feb. 24, 1983, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of Anthony Andrew Hodges Sr. and Traci L. Bonitto Hodges of Hagerstown. He attended South Hagerstown High School. Anthony was a very smart and outgoing person, who enjoyed everyone he met. Besides his parents, he is survived by two daughters, Jazmere L. Fitzgerald and Taliah N. Hodges, both of Hagerstown; two sons, Anthony Andrew Hodges III  and Aidan A. Hodges, both of Hagerstown; four sisters, Theresa Butler and Terrika Hodges, both of Hagerstown, Anthoneya Hodges of Queens, N.Y., and Tatyana Hodges of Hagerstown; four brothers, Cornell Gordon, and Gale Harris, both of Hagerstown, Stephon Hodges of Queens, and Terrence Hodges of Hagerstown; maternal grandmother, Kathryn Bonitto of Hagerstown, and paternal grandmother, Loretta E. Hodges of Buffalo, N.Y. He was preceded in death by a brother, Terrence Hodges.

She is employed by Nike and works in the Nike Factory Store in Hagerstown. Mr. Trovinger is the son of Dennis and Lucinda Trovinger of Hagerstown. He is a 1993 graduate of South Hagerstown High School and attended Hagerstown Community College. He is employed by Citicorp Credit Services and Wal-Mart in Hagerstown.

SN Adam M. Hutchens , son of Teresa Hutchens of Hagerstown, and Gary Hutchens of Frederick, Md., is serving aboard the USS Ramage, a guided missile destroyer stationed at Norfolk, Va. Hutchens graduated from basic training in October 2001 and completed advanced training at Great Lakes Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill., graduating third in his class in visual communications. Hutchens completed a deployment to the Mediterranean Sea and Persian Gulf assigned to the USS Ramage.

It is a big week for football and school spirit at South Hagerstown High School. The homecoming game is Friday against the Smithsburg Leopards. The South High Rebels are a perfect 5-0. It is the best start for a South High football team since quarterback Phil Petry led the Rebels to an undefeated 9-0 season 50 years ago in 1962. Game time Friday is at 7 p.m. There will be a homecoming bonfire Thursday at 9 p.m., following the South High soccer game. Saturday evening will be South high's homecoming dance.

BALTIMORE - Brett Meyers, son of Bob and Misha Meyers of Hagerstown, graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a master of science degree in computer science in August. Brett received his undergraduate degree from UMBC in 2006. He is a 2003 graduate of South Hagerstown High School. Brett is a software engineer at Lockheed Martin. STEVENSON, Md. - The following Washington County residents were named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Stevenson University.
