Hagerstown police are looking for a person who robbed a Sheetz convenience store at gunpoint Wednesday morning. The robbery at 700 Potomac Ave. was reported at 4:57 a.m., police said in a news release. A male wearing a ski mask and a dark sweat shirt or jacket brandished a handgun and demanded cigarettes. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cigarettes, he fled on foot, according to police. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Hagerstown Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at 301-790-3700.

A man wearing a mask and carrying what turned out to be a rifle-style BB gun was arrested near Winter Street Elementary School on Wednesday morning, the Hagerstown Police Department said. Officers took Santez Merrell Thomas, 18, of 67 Elizabeth St. in Hagerstown, into custody without a struggle shortly after the call came in at about 11:50 a.m., according to Lt. Paul Kifer. Thomas was charged with having a prescription with a removed label and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Washington County District Court records.

Hagerstown Police are looking for a person who robbed a McDonald's restaurant at gunpoint early Thursday. The robbery at the McDonald's at 316 E. Washington St. was reported at 2:07 a.m., police said in a news release. Store employees told police that a man wearing a ski mask and dark clothing entered the restaurant and displayed a handgun. The man then went to the safe and took an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the store in an unknown direction, the release said.

Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies were investigating an armed robbery Sunday night at the Dollar General store at 415 S. Conococheague St. in Williamsport, according to a Washington County 911 spokeswoman. The robbery was reported at 9:10 p.m. and officers stopped someone, but they determined it was not the person who committed the crime, a sheriff's office spokesman said. The robber, who was dressed in a gray hoodie with a ski mask, pulled a gun in the store and stole money out of a cash drawer, the spokesman said.

Hagerstown police were investigating an armed robbery Saturday morning at the M&T Bank branch on Dual Highway, the third time this week a Dual Highway business has been robbed at gunpoint. At 9:54 a.m., police received a report that a man had entered the bank, went to the teller counter, pulled a handgun and demanded cash. The man made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and last was seen running north toward Weis Market. A K-9 team tracked the man, but the trail was lost in the parking lot on the west side of Weis Market, police said.

Police officers Tuesday were continuing their search for a masked man who robbed the PNC Bank in the 1700 block of Dual Highway on Monday morning. On Tuesday, police said a $5,000 reward was being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the bank robber. Jim Hurd said a man entered the bank at the corner of Dual Highway and Edgewood Drive at about 9:10 a.m., went behind the counter and displayed an “old-style revolver.” “He was dressed in black from head to toe,” said Hurd, noting that no one was injured during the robbery.

A Harpers Ferry area man accused of robbing a City National Bank branch in Ranson, W.Va., on Monday has been charged in the Dec. 22 robbery of BB&T bank just outside of Martinsburg, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department said Thursday night. An arrest warrant charging Mark Daniel Haines, 40, with non-aggravated robbery in the BB&T holdup was issued Thursday, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Deputy Lt. Gary Harmison said. Haines, who lives at 152 Red Bird Lane in the Shannondale subdivision, also is a “primary suspect” in the Dec. 22 robbery of a Susquehanna Bank drive-up office at 17301 Valley Mall Road near Hagerstown, Cpl. Greg Alton, an investigator with the Washington County Sheriff's Office, said Thursday night.

A Harpers Ferry, W.Va., area man accused of robbing the drive-through window of a City National Bank branch in Ranson Monday was arraigned Tuesday on multiple charges by magistrates in Jefferson and Berkeley counties. Mark Daniel Haines, 40, of 152 Red Bird Lane in the Shannondale subdivision, is charged with two counts of possession of a stolen vehicle, fleeing, obstructing and robbery, according to magistrate court records. Haines, whose drivers' license listed a Wheeling, W.Va.

A man was arrested Tuesday night as he fled the scene of a robbery at the I-Mart convenience store at 18403 Maugans Ave., according to Maryland State Police. Craig Alexander, 31, address unknown, was charged with second-degree burglary, theft under $1,000 and giving a false statement to a police officer, Washington County Sheriff's Detective Tim Atwell said. Alexander was being held on a $50,000 bond, police said. Officers responding to the store for a robbery call at about 11 p.m. Tuesday saw a man wearing a ski mask inside the store, state police said in a press release.

WAYNESBORO, PA. - Authorities were searching Friday for a man who robbed Antietam Pharmacy in Waynesboro that morning and got away with drugs, according to the Waynesboro Police Department. A man dressed in a multicolored coat, gloves and a ski mask entered Antietam Pharmacy at 11:43 a.m., showed a handgun and demanded the staff turn over drugs, Police Department Sgt. Mike Bock said. No one was hurt in the robbery, Bock said. Little was known of the robber other than his clothing and approximate height.
