CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- An 84-year-old Greencastle, Pa., man was killed in a single-vehicle accident Friday on U.S. 11 in Guilford Township, according to a press release from the Pennsylvania State Police. Preston C. Meyers was pronounced dead at Chambersburg Hospital, police said. The accident occurred at about 6:10 p.m. Meyers was a passenger in a 2005 Buick LaCrosse that was driven by Ethel H. Meyers, 81, also of Greencastle, police said. The Meyerses were traveling south in the 6100 block of U.S. 11 when Ethel Meyers drove west of the roadway and struck a tree, police said.

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Two teenagers sustained minor injuries Friday afternoon in a single-vehicle accident on Helman Road, according to a Pennsylvania State Police press release. A 16-year-old Greencastle, Pa. boy was southbound on Helman Road in a 1993 Ford Ranger at 4:43 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle, which went into the northbound lane, then back into the southbound lane, police said. The vehicle then struck an embankment, which caused it to flip onto its roof, police said.

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - The Independent and Citizens fire companies were called to the Liberty Gas & Go station at 321 W. Washington St. in Charles Town after a vehicle crashed into the building at about 10:19 a.m. Friday, causing structural damage. Assistant Chief Ben Money of Citizens Fire Co. said one man was injured in the single-vehicle accident and taken to Jefferson Memorial Hospital. The man's name and condition were unknown, Money said. Money said the man was driving a Chevrolet Colorado pickup west on West Street when he had a medical emergency and struck a parked car. The man then veered across the street and hit another vehicle that was parked next to the gas station.

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- A Shepherdstown man was flown to Winchester Medical Center in Virginia after a single-vehicle accident early Thursday morning on W.Va. 230, Sgt. Robert Sell of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department said. Bruce Shanton, 26, of Shepherdstown, was driving south on W.Va. 230 when his 1996 Honda Accord went off the road and struck a utility pole just before the intersection at Flowing Springs Road, Sell said. Shanton was ejected from the car before it came to rest in a field, Sell said.

A Pennsylvania man was charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana and other crimes after Maryland State Police on Monday night responded to a single-vehicle accident involving the man and his 3-year-old daughter. The girl was not injured. A witness saw the man throwing something away from the scene of the accident, troopers alleged in a news release. Officers recovered the item that was thrown and believe it to be about 100 grams of marijuana, troopers said.

CLEAR SPRING -- One person was injured in a single-vehicle accident at 1:21 p.m. today -- an accident that closed westbound Interstate 70 for about a half hour. Maryland State Police are investigating the accident just west of St. Paul Road. The westbound lanes were reopened by 1:50 p.m. after emergency personnel left the scene though police said travel was still sluggish through the area. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2003 Mitsubishi four-door sedan was traveling westbound on I-70 west of St. Paul Road when a tractor and trailer combination inadvertently changed lanes, causing the Mitsubishi to travel into the center median where the vehicle rolled over several times.

The condition of a Florida man who was injured in a single-vehicle accident Wednesday on Interstate 81 near the Maugans Avenue exit had been upgraded Friday from critical to serious, a Washington County Hospital spokeswoman said. Morgan Smith was traveling south on I-81 at about 1:50 p.m. Wednesday when his Honda Accord went off the roadway and rolled into the median, Maryland State Police said. Smith was taken to Washington County Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition on the night of the accident.

FREDERICK, Md. - A single-vehicle accident early Saturday claimed the life of an unidentified male driver and injured a female passenger, Maryland State Police in Frederick said. According to a press release, a 2002 Dodge Dakota traveling west on Interstate 70 at South Street at 3:47 a.m. Saturday veered out of control onto the right shoulder. The driver overcorrected and drove into the median where the vehicle flipped, ejecting the driver. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

One person was taken to a hospital, and the southbound lanes of Interstate 81 were closed Friday afternoon as a result of a single-vehicle accident. The crash occurred shortly after 2 p.m. when a vehicle overturned near mile-marker 23, according to a Franklin County Emergency Communications dispatcher. An officer with the West End Fire and Rescue Co. said that the single occupant of the vehicle was taken to an area hospital, but his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
