A 24-year-old Frederick woman died in single-vehicle accident early Wednesday, according to Maryland State Police. Shannon Lee Falcon was traveling at a high rate of speed in a 2003 Nissan Altima on northbound U.S. 15 between Jefferson Street and U.S. 40 when she lost control of the vehicle on a curve and crashed into a guardrail in the median at about 1:40 a.m., police said.  She was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police said alcohol was a contributing factor in the accident.

Police are at the scene of a single-vehicle accident that was reported at 8:10 a.m. Monday in the 9700 block of Sharpsburg Pike (Md. 65), a Washington County Emergency Services dispatcher said. The dispatcher said early reports indicated one person had minor injuries. The 9700 block of Sharpsburg Pike is south of the Food Lion supermarket.

CLEAR SPRING -- A westbound lane of Interstate 70 near the Clear Spring exit was closed Thursday morning after a single-vehicle accident, Maryland State Police said. No one was being transported from the scene for medical treatment, police said. The report that a vehicle rolled over in the median came in at 9:07 a.m., police said. The highway had reopened by noon, according to the Maryland Department of Transportation.

NEEDMORE, Pa. - A Big Cove Tannery, Pa., man died early Saturday in a single-vehicle accident on U.S. 522 in Belfast Township, Pa., Pennsylvania State Police in McConnellsburg, Pa., said. Johnathan Carbaugh, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The investigation revealed Carbaugh, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, was northbound Saturday at 4 a.m. in a 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier when his car went off the berm and struck a tree.

One lane of traffic was shut down on westbound Interstate 70 near Hancock late Friday morning while emergency personnel responded to a single-vehicle accident, a Washington County Emergency Services dispatcher said. The dispatcher said the accident happened at about 11 a.m. roughly three miles east of Hancock. Further details were not immediately available.

The Washington County Sheriff's Department responded Saturday morning to a single-vehicle accident in the Hancock area. Peter L. Bonafede Jr., 58, of 917 Stonebridge Drive in Lancaster, Pa., lost traction in his 1998 Ford F-150 pickup truck and left the road, according to a sheriff's department press release. The truck left the road and flipped onto its roof, deputies said. Investigators blamed the accident on rain and the steep slope of the road, deputies said. No serious injuries were reported.

Traffic on Interstate 81 was disrupted for about an hour Thursday morning following a single-vehicle accident. The southbound lanes and one northbound lane of I-81 near Falling Waters, W.Va., were closed following the accident at about 8:35 a.m., a Berkeley County Emergency Services supervisor said. The accident occurred near the 21.5-mile marker, about halfway between the Falling Waters/Marlowe and Spring Mills exits. Traffic in both directions was flowing smoothly again by about 9:45 a.m. Further information was not immediately available.

The slow lane of eastbound Interstate 70 near the U.S. 40 exit east of Hagerstown was closed for about an hour Monday because of a single-vehicle accident, according to Washington County Emergency Services. One person was reported to have back and neck pain from the accident, which was reported at 11:31 a.m. Monday, a 911 supervisor said. Some natural gas leaked from a gas meter at the corner of West Washington Street and Burhans Boulevard in Hagerstown's West End after it was struck by a vehicle Sunday afternoon, according to Washington County Emergency Services. No injuries were reported from the single-vehicle accident, which occurred at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday, a 911 supervisor said. Columbia Gas was called to fix the gas leak, the 911 supervisor said.

A Fayetteville woman remained hospitalized Monday morning at York (Pa.) Hospital following a Saturday night traffic accident. Dominique N. Snair, 24, was listed in serious condition Monday morning, a hospital spokesman said. She was flown to York Hospital to be treated for injuries she sustained in a single-vehicle accident at 8:45 p.m. Saturday on Rocky Mountain Road in Guilford Township, Pa., according to a news release from Pennsylvania State Police. Troopers said Snair was driving a Subaru Forester on Rocky Mountain Road when she lost control of the vehicle and it struck a tree.

A woman who died Wednesday the after vehicle she was riding in crashed on Apple Harvest Drive southwest of Martinsburg was identified as Charm Marie Edwards of Gerrardstown, W.Va., West Virginia State Police said Thursday. Edwards, 70, was a passenger in a 2000 Ford Explorer that her husband, Bobby Adams, was driving when the crash occurred in the 8000 block of Apple Harvest Drive, troopers said. The accident was reported at 5:11 p.m., emergency officials had said. Edwards, who was thrown from the vehicle, was pronounced dead at 5:45 p.m., troopers said.

A West Virginia woman died after the vehicle she was riding in crashed Wednesday on Apple Harvest Drive (W.Va. 45) southwest of Martinsburg, according to West Virginia State Police. The woman's name was not immediately released pending notification of next of kin, troopers said. The crash in the 8700 block of Apple Harvest Drive near Loop Road was reported at 5:11 p.m., a Berkeley County emergency communications supervisor said. The woman was thrown from the vehicle, troopers said.

A New Jersey man has been identified as the person who died of injuries sustained in a single-vehicle accident on Easter Sunday, the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department said Friday. Frank Stephen Kula II, 53, of Bordentown Township, N.J., died at City Hospital in Martinsburg following the Sunday, March 31, crash at the intersection of Apple Harvest Drive and State Circle, according to a sheriff's department news release. Kula was driving a Volvo west on Apple Harvest Drive at 3:03 a.m. when he lost control of the car, deputies said.

Westbound Interstate 70 was shut down between Exit 24 and Interstate 81 due to a single-vehicle accident, a Washington County 911 dispatcher said. Occupants of the vehicle were being checked for minor injuries, the dispatcher said. The accident occurred about 3:35 p.m. in the westbound lanes, the dispatcher said. At 4:15, traffic was backed up past the exit for Md. 65, according to motorist. I-70 was reopened at 4:30 p.m.

Fire damages Wayne Highway home WAYNESBORO, Pa. - An electrical fire damaged a single-family house at 10748 Wayne Highway on Wednesday morning, Waynesboro Fire Chief Dave Martin said. Firefighters were called to the scene near Prices Church Road at 9:24 a.m. Martin said they used a thermal imaging camera to find the origin of the fire in an attic floor. “It was hard to get to,” he said. Crews opened up the floor and tackled some hot spots for about two hours, Martin said.

The supervisor said the accident occurred at the No. 1 exit from Interstate 70, which is where U.S. 522 and the highway intersect. One lane of U.S. 522 was been shut down to traffic. Southbound Interstate 81 was closed Tuesday morning following a single-vehicle accident on the bridge over the Potomac River, a supervisor for Washington County Emergency Services said. Police were responding to the accident at 7:48 a.m. Tuesday. Earlier, a tractor-trailer accident caused the exit ramp from southbound Interstate 81 to Exit 2 (Virginia Avenue/U.S. 11) near Williamsport to be closed, a supervisor for Washington County Emergency Services said. Police responded to that accident at 6:16 a.m. Tuesday.
