ST. JAMES - Not unlike any other parents across the United States on Saturday, the vice president and his wife watched their son play high school football. Al and Tipper Gore found their way to the St. James School campus to root for their son Al, who plays middle linebacker for Sidwell Friends. His team defeated host St. James, 50-13. The vice president and his wife were dressed casually. He shook hands with other parents and folks from St. James, as well as some of the game's referees.

Saints take what they can get from Sidwell By BOB PARASILITI / Staff Writer ST. JAMES - It was almost like the St. James basketball team wanted to stay on cordial terms with Sidwell Friends. The Saints weren't exactly demanding about the way the game was going to be played. It was more a case of St. James gladly accepting what their guests were offering. And it wasn't exactly the style of game the Saints liked to play. Yet No. 10 St. James ignored its usual running attack, settling into a 2-3 defensive cocoon and some halfcourt play on Saturday to claim a 56-47 Mid Atlantic Conference victory.
