Man charged in Food 4 Less robbery MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A man staying at the Martinsburg Motel was arrested Monday after a robbery at the Food 4 Less grocery store along Edwin Miller Boulevard, according to the Martinsburg City Police Department. Police said a man threatened a cashier with physical harm if she did not comply with his demand for money at about 3 a.m. John Christopher Acey, 40, was charged with aggravated robbery, police said. The arrest occurred on Shenandoah Road in Martinsburg, police said.

martinsburg@herald-mail.com MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A Martinsburg woman was indicted on a charge of felony shoplifting Thursday in connection with a six-pack of Mike's Hard Lemonade stolen from a grocery store nearly a year ago. Teresa L. Beavers, 35, of 616 Second St., also was indicted on a charge of retaliation against a witness. According to a copy of the indictment, the six-pack was stolen from Weis grocery store in June 2004. Beavers previously had been convicted in Martinsburg Municipal Court on Oct. 1, 2001, and Aug. 21, 2002, of shoplifting, the indictment states.

Pa. woman charged with cutting man's stomach CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.  - A woman has been charged with using a kitchen knife to cut a man on his stomach Monday afternoon in Greene Township, Pa., Pennsylvania State Police said. Calvette S. Snively, 37, address unavailable, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment, according to a state police news release. Troopers said the incident was reported at 5:24 p.m. at a home on Courtney Drive, where the man was injured.

BB gun shot shatters vehicle window Someone shooting a BB gun in Hagerstown shattered a vehicle's window Friday evening, Sgt. Elmer Hurd of the Hagerstown Police Department said. The vehicle was parked in the area of Cannon Avenue and Mulberry Street, Hurd said. Someone driving by shot out the window, he said. No one was in the vehicle at the time of the shooting. Police had no suspects Friday evening. Fairfax County, Va., officer arraigned on battery charge MARTINSBURG, W.Va.

The Washington County Sheriff's Department is seeking the public's help to find a Hagerstown couple wanted on several counts of felony and misdemeanor theft charges in connection with allegedly shoplifting from several county stores, Investigator Greg Alton said. Mark Dwayne Rice, 38, and Sandra Lee Rice, 44, who share a last known address of 428 Park Place, have been charged through arrest warrants in connection with the alleged thefts from between 15 and 20 stores dating to Sept.

By DAVE McMILLION Staff Writer, Martinsburg MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A man accused of shoplifting at a hardware store Tuesday led police on a chase through southern Berkeley County, attempted to run over an officer and displayed a weapon, prompting the officer to fire his weapon, police and court records said. The chase finally ended near the intersection of Union Corner Road and Arden Road when the man drove the car into a ditch at the point where a set of "stop sticks" had been set up in the road, according to Sgt. K.C. Bohrer of the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department.

BRUNSWICK, Md. - A Middletown, Md., woman was seriously hurt in a motorcycle accident Saturday at the intersection of Md. 17 and U.S. 340, Maryland State Police said. Jacqueline Ohler, 40, was flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore, where she was in critical condition Saturday night. Ohler was a passenger on a 1977 Harley Davidson motorcycle that collided with a Honda Prelude shortly after 1 p.m., police said. The driver of the motorcycle, Gary Hamilton, 37, of Frederick, Md., was taken to Washington County Hospital, where he was in fair condition.
