Two occupants of a car that hit a tree in the the 20400 block of Benevola Church Road in Boonsboro were flown to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore on Friday night, according to the First Hose Company of Boonsboro and the Washington County Sheriff's Office. The accident was reported at 7:48 p.m., according to a sheriff's office press release. A 1991 Honda CRX was traveling westbound on Benevola Church Road when the operator lost control and a vehicle struck a tree, the release said.

A 17-year-old girl was taken to the hospital Monday morning after she was struck by a vehicle while crossing West Main Street in Waynesboro, according to Waynesboro Police and Franklin County Emergency Services. The teenager was taken to Meritus Medical Center, and then to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where she was in “guarded” condition, according to an email from Waynesboro Police Chief James H. Sourbier IV. Police said they are investigating the accident, which occurred at the Fairview Avenue intersection around 7:15 a.m. Monday.

A Hagerstown man was flown to a Baltimore shock trauma center Wednesday evening after he lost control of a scooter and wrecked at the intersection of Sharpsburg Pike and Lyles Drive, according to Maryland State Police. The crash occurred about 6:12 p.m. when Brian Snodderly Sr., 48, was driving a 2008 Kymco scooter south on the shoulder of Sharpsburg Pike near the Food Lion store south of Hagerstown, state police said in a news release. A vehicle traveling ahead of Snodderly made a right turn into Lyles Drive, and Snodderly's scooter started wobbling and crashed, police said.

A 17-year-old girl was in the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with life-threatening injuries and her father was there with a serious hand injury Wednesday, a day after after the sport utility vehicle he was driving overturned multiple times when a tire blew on eastbound Interstate 70, according to Maryland State Police. Christopher Nnabuihe Nwachukwu, 52, of Baltimore, one of seven family members in the 2002 Mercury Mountaineer, lost control of the SUV at about 2:38 p.m. near Mapleville Road after the left rear tire blew, state police said in a news release.

A Baltimore woman who was seriously injured in a car accident Friday near the entrance of Greenbrier State Park on U.S. 40 remained in critical condition Sunday night at R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, according to a hospital spokeswoman. Cheron Nicole Leighton, 34, who was driving a 2006 Honda Civic, was ejected from the vehicle and flown to the shock trauma center by a Maryland State Police helicopter after the accident at 1:35 p.m., police said. A passenger in Leighton's vehicle, Tiara Shaniece Elliott, 33, was thrown from the vehicle and later died at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, police said.

A Falling Waters, W.Va., man who was seriously injured in a crash involving multiple motorcycles on Interstate 70 Saturday afternoon in the Indian Springs area was still being treated at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore on Monday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said. Mark D. Stephens was listed in critical condition Monday afternoon at the hospital, the spokeswoman said. According to Maryland State Police, a 2008 Harley-Davidson operated by Matthew L. Adams, 42, of Martinsburg, W.Va., slowed down and was struck by Mark D. Stephens' motorcycle from behind.

Brigitte Elaine Heller, 51, a Washington County emergency medical services coordinator, was critically injured on U.S. 50 when the driver of another vehicle fell asleep at the wheel and crossed the median into the path of her Nissan Xterra, Easton police said.

LIBERTYTOWN, Md. - A Frederick County man shot his wife before killing himself Friday at the couple's home in Libertytown, the Frederick County Sheriff's Office reported. Dennis Earl Green, 52, was pronounced dead Friday in the yard of his 9206 Providence Ct. home, police said. Cathy Eileen Green, 41, died Saturday morning at the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, police said. The Frederick 911 center at 5:41 p.m. Friday received a call reporting a female screaming and shots fired at the Greens' address, police said.
