chambersburg@herald-mail.com CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A 71-year-old Quincy Township, Pa., man charged with multiple counts of indecent assault against two young girls pleaded not guilty and waived arraignment in Franklin County Court Wednesday. William Charles Johnson, of 3436 Clayhill Road, will be listed in the March trial term, according to court records. He is charged with four counts of indecent assault, two counts of aggravated indecent assault, and one count each of attempted rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent exposure and corruption of minors, according to court records.

A 47-year-old Berkeley Springs, W.Va., man who faced charges stemming from alleged sexual contact with a 17-year-old girl entered an Alford plea Monday in Washington County Circuit Court to one count of second-degree assault. In making an Alford plea, a defendant does not admit guilt but acknowledges the state has sufficient evidence to gain a conviction. David Leroy Creek Sr., whose address when charged was 2570 Fairview Drive in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., entered the plea before Washington County Circuit Judge M. Kenneth Long Jr., who ordered him to three years of unsupervised probation.

In a courtroom closed to all but juvenile authorities and families of the victim and the accused, a teenage boy admitted Wednesday he sexually assaulted a 5-year-old boy last month. Washington County Circuit Judge Frederick Wright returned the 14-year-old to the Thomas B. Finan Center in Cumberland, Md., until he can be placed in a proper setting. The youth admitted to a fourth-degree sex offense. Additional charges of sodomy and a second-degree sex offense were dropped in exchange for the admission.

The case of a Hagerstown man charged with sex offenses against a girl was forwarded to Washington County Circuit Court following a preliminary hearing this week in District Court. Eric Allen Bryant, 19, of 404 1/2 N. Prospect St., is charged with second-degree rape, attempted second-degree sex offense, fourth-degree sex offense and four counts of second-degree assault, according to court records. Bryant is accused of attempting to have sexual contact with the younger sister of his girlfriend on several occasions from April 2009 to October 2010, according to the application for statement of charges filed by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

A Frederick, Md., man was sentenced in Washington County Circuit Court to four years in prison last week for having sexual relations with the teenage daughter of the woman with whom he was living at the time. Keith Darnell Bowie, 26, pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree sex offense. In exchange for the plea, additional charges of second-degree rape, second-degree sex offense, child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor were dropped. According to court records, the sexual contact occurred between July 1994 and June 1995.

A 23-year-old Hagerstown man has been charged with second-degree rape after a woman said he forced her to have intercourse with him Tuesday night, Washington County District Court records show. Michael Dynal Hackey Jr., of 56 North Cannon Ave. in Hagerstown, also was charged with second-degree sex offense and second-degree assault, court records show. The woman said she met Hackey while walking on Franklin Street and the two went back to her apartment in the 100 block of East Franklin Street at about 11:30 p.m. to hang out and drink, Hagerstown Police Department Detective Chris Kayser wrote in charging documents.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Chambersburg man was sentenced Wednesday in Franklin County Court to 6 1/2 to 20 years in state prison for sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl. The 30-year-old man pleaded guilty in April to rape, according to court records. He was charged in December 1999 after the girl's mother reported the abuse to Pennsylvania State Police. Police records said the man had sexual contact with the girl on three occasions in April 1999, while the girl's mother was at work.

Allegations against a father in the sexual assault of his daughter many years ago has triggered similar claims from the man's son, resulting in more charges last week, according to Maryland State Police. The 53-year-old Hagerstown man was released on personal recognizance, according to Maryland State Police Trooper 1st Class Michael Potter. The son, now 26, was contacted during the police investigation into his 22-year-old sister's accusations against her father, Potter said.

HAGERSTOWN - A former Ku Klux Klan leader was acquitted Thursday night in Washington County Circuit Court of second-degree sexual offense, sexual abuse of a minor and other crimes after a jury of eight men and four women deliberated for about an hour. Gordon Creal Young, 41, was charged with the offenses after a 15-year-old girl told Washington County Sheriff's deputies that Young made her perform sexual acts on him at his home on two separate occasions in October 2006. Young, of 2210 Back Road in Sharpsburg, also was charged with second-degree assault and causing another to ingest bodily fluid.

martinsburg@herald-mail.com WAYNESBORO, Pa. - A 71-year-old man has been accused of sexually abusing two girls several times - including once when he allegedly assaulted the older girl while his infirm wife was downstairs. Waynesboro Police said William Johnson of Clay Hill Road in Quincy Township, Pa., molested the girls - ages 12 and 8 - from 1999 to this year. Police said they arrested Johnson Monday outside the Waynesboro Post Office on East Main Street. Johnson was charged with four counts of indecent assault, two counts of aggravated indecent assault and one count each of rape, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent exposure and corruption of a minor, according to charging documents.
