A Hagerstown man was ordered Tuesday in Berkeley County Circuit Court to serve prison sentences totaling 13 to 55 years for sexually assaulting a Bunker Hill, W.Va., boy and three physically and mentally disabled males in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Randall Ray Waugh, 53, was sentenced by 23rd Judicial Circuit John C. Yoder after the defendant pleaded guilty to six of the felony counts and no contest to three other felony charges in a plea and sentencing hearing. Each of Waugh's third-degree sexual assault convictions come with a prison sentence of not less than one nor more than five years behind bars, according to the plea agreement.

Teacher charged with sexual assault By LAURA ERNDE Staff Writer FREDERICK, Md. - A Frederick County elementary school teacher who was charged last month with getting child pornography from a school computer has now been charged with sexually assaulting a student 10 years ago, police said Thursday. Gary E. Booth, 33, of the 5700-block of Brook Hill Lane, Frederick, Md., was charged Thursday with sodomy, second-degree sex offense, third-degree sex offense and child abuse, Maryland State Police said.

A 56-year-old man sentenced Monday in Berkeley County Circuit Court for sexually assaulting a pastor's son in 2002 is expected to serve 21 years in prison before he will be eligible for parole. Ronald Dewayne Smith was ordered by 23rd Judicial Circuit Judge Christopher C. Wilkes to serve two, 10- to 20-year prison sentences along with a 1- to 5-year prison term consecutively, according to Berkeley County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Gregory K. Jones. Smith was found guilty of two counts of sexual abuse by a custodian and one count of third-degree sexual assault in a jury trial in April.

Washington County Circuit Judge John H. McDowell on Tuesday ordered a 23-year-old Hagerstown man to serve 30 years in prison for a New Year's Eve sexual assault of an 18-year-old woman, according to court documents. Charelles Lamar Jones-Harris, whose last known address was 843 W. Washington St., was found guilty of second-degree assault, false imprisonment, sodomy and two counts each of second-degree and fourth-degree sex offense by a circuit court jury in July, according to court records.

Johnson guilty of sexual assault MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A Berkeley County jury deliberated for 22 minutes before convicting Mark Johnson on two counts of second-degree sexual assault in the rape of a fellow inmate twice at the Eastern Regional Jail. As he was being handcuffed and shackled after the verdict, Johnson said he knew he wouldn't get a fair trial after his 1997 conviction for kidnapping and attempted murder in Charles Town, W.Va. "I don't think I should've been tried in this county," he said.

Mary Elizabeth Brown Boyd testified that at one point during the evening, Paul C. Johnson told her in a "very harsh voice to shut up. An 18-year-old man has been charged with sexually assaulting a girl last year at a home in Chambersburg, Pa., Pennsylvania State Police said. Davonte Tyqwane Lindsay, address not given, was charged Tuesday with statutory sexual assault and corruption of minors, according to a state police news release. Troopers said the assaults occurred from Aug. 1 to Sept. 30, when Lindsay allegedly had sex with a 13-year-old girl. Police said Lindsay admitted to having consensual intercourse with the girl.

A 52-year-old man indicted in 1994 on 321 counts of sexual assault, pornography and related charges is scheduled to be arraigned Feb. 23 in Berkeley County Circuit Court, Prosecuting Attorney Pamela Games-Neely said Thursday. Randall Ray Waugh of Hagerstown is accused of sexually assaulting a Bunker Hill, W.Va., boy dozens of times beginning in 1988, according to the indictment and Games-Neely. The victim turned 9 that year and was sexually assaulted in subsequent years before Waugh's indictment, according to court documents and Games-Neely.
