A 64-year-old Berkeley County man is accused of sexually assaulting a mentally impaired teenage girl in October, according Berkeley County Magistrate Court records. Alexander T. Smith, of 451 Crestview Drive, Martinsburg, was arraigned Monday evening on two counts of sexual abuse and two counts of sexual assault by Magistrate Sandra L. Miller, according to court documents. The victim was 14 years old when two sexual assaults allegedly occurred while the girl was with him, according to court documents.

martinsburg@herald-mail.com MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A man charged with raping a 12-year-old girl, a 15-year-old girl and a woman in her 20s listened to calm testimony from each of the women Tuesday during the first day of his trial. Jason Lee Caton, 23, of Martinsburg, faces two counts of second-degree sexual assault in connection with the rape of the 15-year-old, who now is 17 and a senior at a Berkeley County, W.Va., high school. The Herald-Mail is not publishing the names of the young women in accordance with its policy of not identifying victims of sex crimes.

The arraignment of a Washington County man indicted in Berkeley County in 1994 on 321 counts of sexual assault, pornography and related charges was postponed Thursday in Berkeley County Circuit Court. Randall Ray Waugh, 52, of Hagerstown, is accused of sexually assaulting a Bunker Hill, W.Va., boy dozens of times beginning in 1988, according to the indictment and Berkeley County Prosecuting Attorney Pamela Games-Neely. The victim, who turned 9 that year, was sexually assaulted in subsequent years before Waugh's indictment, according to court documents and Games-Neely.

Pennsylvania State Police in Fulton County have charged an Adams County man with sexually assaulting a boy in 1998-99 and again in 2008. Curtis Bryner, 38, of Gettysburg, Pa., has been charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault, endangering the welfare of children, criminal coercion, indecent assault, indecent exposure, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person, police said. Bryner, who is in the Adams County Jail, was arraigned on the charges on Jan. 7, and his bail was set at $50,000, police said.

The Frederick Police Department was investigating an alleged sexual assault Thursday night in the parking lot of the Seventh Street Shopping Center. A woman was in the parking lot removing items from her vehicle at 6 p.m. when a man came up behind her and rubbed her outer thigh and waist, police said. When the woman turned around, the man grabbed her by the throat, told her not to scream, and then turned and walked away, police said. The man was white, and wearing a Carhartt jacket and dirty work boots, police said.

A former custodian at Hedgesville High School is accused of sexual assaulting an 18-year-old woman this summer while the school was being cleaned, according to Berkeley County Magistrate Court records. Kenneth Weigle, 64, 555 Mauve Road, Hedgesville, retired from Berkeley County Public Schools on Aug. 16 as a result of the allegations, school officials said Friday. Weigle was arraigned Friday by Magistrate Joan V. Bragg on one count of second-degree sexual assault, one count of sexual abuse by a person of trust and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to court records.

A man wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service on allegations of sexually assaulting children in Pennsylvania may be frequenting the Hagerstown area, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office. Shawn Fake, 42, no address given, is wanted on warrants from York, Pa., a  sheriff's office news release said. Anyone with information about his whereabouts can call Deputy U.S. Marshal Philip Lewis at 717-943-2088.

A 29-year-old Martinsburg man was found guilty Friday of second-degree sexual assault and assault during the commission of a felony in the violent rape of a woman in July 2011 in Martinsburg. A Berkeley County jury found Ricky Darnell Webster not guilty of a second count of second-degree sexual assault, according to court documents. Webster, who is scheduled to be sentenced in October, faces a possible sentence of not less than 10 and not more than 25 years in prison for the second-degree assault conviction, and a two- to 10-year prison sentence for the assault during the commission of a felony conviction, documents stated.

A 52-year-old Martinsburg area man arraigned Friday is accused of sexually assaulting a female neighbor while she slept last month, according to Berkelely County Magistrate Court documents. Joseph Lee Stephens Sr., of 137 Energy Drive, Martinsburg was charged with second-degree sexual assault by Berkeley County Sheriff's Lt. B.F. Hall,  court records said. In the arraignment hearing, Magistrate Joan V. Bragg set a $20,000 bond for Stephens, who also was wanted by authorities for failure to appear in Berkeley County Circuit Court on an unrelated felony case.

The trial for a 56-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a pastor's son is set to begin today in Berkeley County Circuit Court. Ronald Dewayne Smith, who was previously convicted in 1995 of sexually abusing a Jefferson County boy in the mid-1970s, now faces allegations that he assaulted a preteen boy in 2002. Smith was indicted in May 2011 on two counts of sexual assault and one count of sexual assault third degree in the most recent case. The latest sexual allegations surfaced in December 2010, after the victim and his family moved out of the Martinsburg area, according to court records.
