Pancake breakfast The Maugansville Ruritan Club's pancake breakfast will resume Saturday, Jan. 22, at 6:30 a.m. The all-you-can-eat breakfast includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, and sausage gravy, along with juice, coffee and tea. Breakfast costs $5.50 for adults, $3 for those ages 6 to 12, and free for those younger than 6. Future breakfasts are scheduled for Feb. 26 and March 26. Tips from fire company...

The supper will be at the Big Pool Community Building. The menu will include chicken and ham potpie, stewed tomatoes, coleslaw, applesauce, cake and beverage. The supper is eat in or carry out. Tickets cost $6.50 for adults and $3 for those 12 and younger.

Clear Spring High School, with Principal James Aleshire leading the pack, recently took the plunge at Sandy Point State Park near Annapolis. As a team, the students raised more than $2,000 for Special Olympics. The group is looking forward to taking the challenge again next year. Spaghetti supper A spaghetti supper to benefit Clear Spring High School athletics will be Saturday, Feb. 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 30 S. Martin St. The menu includes spaghetti, roll, green beans, Jell-O, cake, and hot and cold drinks. Tickets cost $6 for adults and $4.50 for students.

All grades participated when students at Williamsport Elementary School made approximately 400 Christmas cards and sent them, along with 106 pounds of candy, to the troops serving overseas. Recently, the school received a letter from Sgt. Brandon Guffey, serving in Afghanistan. He told the students that he misses his family and is thankful for the letters and packages they sent. He said he got their address from a stamp on the back of the Christmas cards. Downsville Ruritan to hold pancake breakfast Downsville Ruritan Club will hold a pancake breakfast Saturday from 7 to 10 a.m. at the old Downsville school.
