Fort Frederick Ruritan Club will hold Breakfast with Santa Saturday at 8 a.m. at the Big Pool Community Building. The menu includes all-you-can-eat pancakes with one serving of eggs and/or bacon, sausage, puddin, or sausage gravy. The breakfast costs $6 for adults and $4 for those ages 4 to 12.

The Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Co. will present Breakfast with the Easter Bunny on Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Co. Special Events Building on Big Springs Road. The buffet breakfast includes eggs, cereal, pancakes, french toast, ham, sausage, chip beef gravy, sausage gravy, biscuits, fruit, potatoes, orange juice, milk and coffee. The breakfast costs $8 for adults and $3 for children. The entire building will be available for seating. Professional pictures with the Easter Bunny cost $10. There will be an egg hunt on the carnival grounds at 11:30 a.m. Some of the eggs will contain prizes.

The Maugansville Ruritan Club will hold its all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast Saturday from 6:30 to 11 a.m. at its blue building on Maugans Avenue.  The menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, sausage gravy, juice, coffee and tea.  The meal costs $5.50 for adults, $3 for those ages 6 to 12 and free for those younger than 6. The lines move quickly and there is plenty of free parking. All proceeds help support the many projects the Ruritans sponsor.   Holiday bazaar The Hagerstown Rescue Mission Ladies Auxiliary will host a holiday bazaar Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Trinity Center on North Walnut Street.  There will be gift items, decorations, stocking-stuffers, crafts, jewelry, quilts, children's books and other items for sale.

Hilltop Christian Fellowship will hold a community children's Christmas party Friday from 6 to 8:30 p.m.   There will be food, games, crafts, a visit from Santa Claus and a puppet show. Thanks to the efforts of Mark Fulton of AC&T, at 11079 Big Pool Road in Big Pool, Clear Spring Elementary School has been awarded a $500 ExxonMobil Education Alliance grant for math and science instruction. The money will be used to purchase resources, which will be used to further learning in STEM, or Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.   Funded by the ExxonMobil Corp., the program is designed to provide Exxon retailers such as AC&T with an opportunity to invest in the future of their communities through educational grants to neighborhood schools.

The District 1 Challenger Little League will hold registration Saturday from noon to 1:30 p.m. at South Side Bowling Alley on Virginia Avenue and Wednesdays, March 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Maugansville Ruritan Building on Maugans Avenue.  The Challenger League is a baseball league for physically challenged children between 5 and 18 years of age. It is open to children in Washington County. Two games each week are played at Maugansville Little League.   The season begins April 6 and ends July 4. New players should bring a copy of their birth certificate and proof of insurance to registration.

Members of the Sharpsburg Lions Club will attend White Cane dinners May 15 in LaVale, Md., and May 24 in Westminster, Md. White Cane dinners are a tradition of Lions Clubs. A white cane is the universally-accepted symbol of blindness, and Lions worldwide are known for their dedicated support of the blind and visually-impaired along with many sight-preserving initiatives. The Lions will also hold a regular meeting May 17 and conduct a highway clean-up May 19. Look for the Lions Club hot dog stand during the May 26 Memorial Day Parade.
