Zion Reformed United Church of Christ announces the 6th annual Cinderella Shop at Zion from 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays in April. Clean, gently used prom gowns are available for purchase for $25 each. Only cash or checks written to REACH are accepted. All proceeds go to REACH. Zion Reformed United Church of Christ is at 201 N. Potomac St., downtown Hagerstown. Access to the shop is via the alley off East Avenue at the rear of the church. Donations of clean, gently used prom gowns are also gratefully accepted during church office hours, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to noon.

The Mont Alto Film Project is seeking actors for "Ghosting," a full-length independent feature film. Auditions are from noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays, Feb. 23 and March 16, at Penn State Mont Alto, General Studies Building, One Campus Drive, Mont Alto.  This is a non-union production of the Mont Alto Film Project in conjunction with Third Child Productions under the auspices of Penn State Mont Alto. Auditions are open to all actors. Check-in is in Room 110 on the first floor of the General Studies Building; Auditions will be held in the building's auditorium.

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - A ban on open burning has been lifted, thanks to more than 3 inches of rain in recent days, Antrim Township Manager Ben Thomas Jr. said. Residents who do burn are asked to have the fire attended with a ready source for extinguishing the fire if necessary. Recyclables such as plastics, newsprint and cardboard should be brought to the recycling center on Antrim Church Road on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or to Mountain View Reclamation on Letzburg Road on Saturdays from 7 to 11 a.m.

The Discovery Station, a museum and more, opened at 101 W. Washington St. in Hagerstown in May 2005. It contains exhibits, interactive displays and hosts events, including demonstration-learning lectures on designated Saturdays. Discovery Station is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Sundays from 2 to 5 p.m. It is closed on Mondays, certain holidays and Sundays during July and August. Admission is $6 for those ages 2 to 17; $7 for adults; and $5 for seniors over age 55 and members of the military.

The local Masonic Lodge will offer Breakfast in the Park Saturday from 7 to 10 a.m. in the Lions Pavilion at Widmeyer Park.  The menu includes pancakes and scrambled eggs. Proceeds support local charitable efforts by the Masons.     Annual ball The Hancock Arts Council will hold its second annual ball in conjunction with the Hancock Barge Bash on Saturday, June 29.  The event takes place from 8 to 10 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at the Hancock Town Hall, 126 W. High St.  Music will be provided by retired teachers Russ and Donna Miller, who comprise the variety band Take Two. Admission will be by donation to benefit the Arts Council.

Martinsburg officials are encouraging city residents to “take pride in your community” Saturday as part of the city's annual spring cleanup and anti-littering program. Free dumping of unwanted items and debris will be accepted at the city's recycling building along East Stephen Street from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday as part of the 23rd annual cleanup effort. The city will accept up to four tires per resident, along with refrigerators, air conditioning units that have been cleared of freon and all other appliances at the recycling center.

The Chambersburg area's annual POW/MIA Service of Remembrance will be on Armed Forces Day, which is Saturday, at 11 a.m. at the Letterkenny Chapel, 2171 Carbaugh Ave. The service will be followed by memorial dedications at the adjacent Franklin County Veterans and 9/11 Memorial Park, according to a news release. The guest speaker will be Col. Glenn Dowling Frazier, a former prisoner of war and survivor of the World War II Bataan Death March. Born in Fort Deposit, Ala., Frazier enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 16 and was assigned to the Philippine Department under Gen. Douglas MacArthur.

The CASA River Century Charity Bike Ride is Saturday, starting and finishing at the Butcher Center at Shepherd University. Cycling routes of 25, 50 and 100 miles are available, with the 50- and 100-mile routes touring the most scenic parts of Berkeley and Jefferson counties. All registration and route information can be found at www.casarivercentury.org; online registration will remain open until noon Wednesday. Registration for the 100-mile ride must be done in advance, but registrants for the 50- and 25-mile routes will be accepted Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. at Shepherd University's Wellness Center and Saturday beginning at 5:30 a.m. at the Butcher Center.

The Fort Loudon Historical Society is sponsoring a self-guided tour of local cemeteries Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. Visitors are asked to come to the Patton House Museum at the fort site to pick up a brochure and map, and partake of light refreshments. The tour is free and begins at the Stenger Hill Cemetery on Main Street/Old U.S. 30, then proceeds to the lower cemetery (Fort Loudon Graveyard Association).  Next, the tour moves to the Old German Reformed Church Cemetery on Mill Street in the center of the village.

On Saturday at The Maryland Theatre, the stage will be filled with dancers wearing ballet slippers, pointe shoes, tap shoes, character shoes, jazz shoes, hip-hop sneakers and going barefoot.  Ballet and All That Jazz, under the artistic direction of Ranelle Flurie, will present two shows at 2 and 7 p.m.  The matinee show consists of Little BITs (Ballerinas In Training), the school's youngest dancers with the preschoolers dancing as magical fairies.  The elementary ages will become childhood princesses.

Hagerstown Hopes will be from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 18, in the area around the Arts Pavilion at Doub's Wood Park, off Maryland Avenue. The theme of the 2013 festival is discrimination of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, & Questioning community. Speakers will talk about issues such as becoming a homeless teen because of sexual orientation and discrimination in employment or housing. Musical guests will include Lawren Hill and Lance Trussell, DJ JerrBear, and Shawn Nakia.
