Hagerstown police said a man with a handgun robbed the Weis supermarket Tuesday night on Shank Farm Way. The man entered the store shortly after 9 p.m., approached a clerk working at an ATM and announced a robbery, according to a police department news release. The robber told the clerk to open the ATM and remove the money inside. Police said the man fled the store with an unknown amount of cash. No one was injured during the robbery. Anyone with information may call police at 301-790-3700.

Police are searching for a man who made off with an undisclosed amount of money in a robbery Friday afternoon at a Susquehanna Bank on Frederick Street in Hagerstown, according to a news release from the Hagerstown Police Department. The robbery at 940 Frederick St. occurred at 3:58 p.m., the release stated. According to police, upon entering the bank, the man handed a teller a note that demanded money. The man then fled the scene.  The suspect is being described as a white male approximately 6-foot to 6-foot 2-inches in height, with a thin build, the release stated.

A suspect was taken into custody Thursday evening, about an hour and a half after a robbery occurred at an M&T Bank branch on Old National Pike in Boonsboro, according to a Washington County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman. Daquan Quincenell Barnes, 19, no fixed address, was charged with robbery, theft from $1,000 to $10,000 and second-degree assault, according to the sheriff's office. Barnes was transported to the county's central booking facility for processing, police said Wednesday night.

Hagerstown police said they believe the same person might have committed four armed robberies in the city this week. Police Chief Mark Holtzman said Friday that the robber matched the same description in all four cases - a Wednesday robbery and three on Thursday - and carried what appeared to be the same weapon in each case. He said the robber demanded cash or cigarettes in each of the four robberies. “They appear to be related,” Holtzman said. “He was seen leaving each location on foot.” The robber was described as a black male who has a thin build and is about 6 feet tall.

Police are investigating an armed robbery Thursday morning on Potomac Avenue, Hagerstown Police said in a news release. The robbery in the 1000 block of Potomac Avenue was reported at 4:04 a.m., police said. The victim was confronted by a male who displayed a handgun, the release said. The person, who was wearing a black mask and black hooded sweat shirt, stole a bicycle and sweat shirt before fleeing the area on another bicycle, according to police. Police estimated the loss at $200.

An armed robbery was reported at Universal Spirits at 33 E. Franklin St., Thursday night, according to a Washington County 911 spokesman. The robbery was reported at 10:36 p.m. and Hagerstown Police Department officers were investigating the incident, the spokesman said.

Hagerstown police are looking for a person who robbed a Sheetz convenience store at gunpoint Wednesday morning. The robbery at 700 Potomac Ave. was reported at 4:57 a.m., police said in a news release. A male wearing a ski mask and a dark sweat shirt or jacket brandished a handgun and demanded cigarettes. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cigarettes, he fled on foot, according to police. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Hagerstown Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at 301-790-3700.

One of two men charged in Monday's armed robbery of the Washington County Teachers Federal Credit Union on Virginia Avenue robbed it three years earlier, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office and Circuit Court records. Cruz Daniel Maldonado, 21, of 398 Bryan Place in Hagerstown, pleaded guilty in January 2011 to the April 19, 2010, robbery of the credit union, Washington County Circuit Court records show. Judge W. Kennedy Boone III, now retired, sentenced him to 15 years in prison, but suspended 10 years, court records say. Maldonado was released from prison in November, according to Mark Vernarelli, a spokesman for the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.

Police apprehended a Hagerstown man in a dressing room in the Eddie Bauer store and caught another Hagerstown man near the Timberland store in the Hagerstown Premium Outlets Monday afternoon following a robbery at the Washington County Teachers Federal Credit Union on Virginia Avenue. Police swarmed the outlets when Joshua Andre Lockley and Cruz Daniel Maldonado were apprehended, and people who were shopping at the time stopped and watched the situation unfold. Lockley, 28, of 424 N. Locust St., and Maldonado, 21, of 398 Bryan Place, were being held in the county's central booking facility Monday night waiting to see a district commissioner, a spokeswoman said.

A Hagerstown man was arrested Saturday night after a man was robbed at knifepoint outside The Columbia Bank on Wesel Boulevard, according to city police. Dennis Udo Wagner-Smith, 41, of 314 Daycotah Ave., was charged with armed robbery, robbery, second-degree assault and theft, Hagerstown Police Sgt. John Lehman said in a news release. At about 7:30 p.m., police were dispatched to the bank branch at 1571 Wesel Boulevard for a reported armed robbery. Upon arrival, officers found a man with a laceration to his hand, Lehman said.
