A male suspect jumped over a counter at the KFC restaurant at 330 Dual Highway in Hagerstown Tuesday night and pushed a cashier in an attempted robbery, according to the city police. After pushing the cashier, the male attempted to open a cash register but was unsuccessful, said Sgt. Mark Renner of the Hagerstown Police Department. The male then fled the restaurant on foot, Renner said. The incident was reported to police about 10 p.m. The suspect was described as being a tall black male, wearing a fishing cap, a plaid shirt and camouflage-style shorts, Renner said.

A Hagerstown man whose surveillance camera photos led to his arrest in two bank robberies this spring pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery Monday in Washington County Circuit Court. Deputy State's Attorney Joseph Michael said the state was seeking a 12-year state prison sentence for 50-year-old Jeffrey Irvin Sheffler for the April 22 holdup at the Susquehanna Bank on Frederick Street and the May 7 robbery of PNC Bank on Dual Highway. “He obtained the money to pay off his drug debts,” Michael told Circuit Judge Daniel P. Dwyer.

A Frederick, Md., man has been arrested and charged after an armed home invasion in east Hagerstown early Friday morning, the Hagerstown Police Department said. Terrance Warfield, 29, of Eisenhower Drive faces charges of armed robbery, assault, burglary, reckless endangerment and theft, Sgt. John Lehman said in a news release. Warfield was being held at the Washington County Detention Center on $300,000 bond, a jail spokesman said Friday afternoon. Shortly after 6 a.m., police were called to a home in the 1500 block of Violet Drive for an armed home invasion robbery.

The actions of two quick-thinking Dollar Tree patrons aided police in arresting a Franklin County man charged in robberies at the Dollar Tree and two other local businesses. Timothy Dean Robinson, 53, of Broad Street in Chambersburg has been charged with robbery and theft by unlawful taking in the following incidents: • The Dollar Tree on Monday. • 5 Below on Norland Avenue in Chambersburg on Monday. • The Rite Aid at 415 E. Queen St. in Chambersburg on July 19, according to police.

A Hagerstown man who turned himself in to city police four days after a March holdup of the Family Dollar store on Pennsylvania Avenue caught a one-year break when he pleaded guilty to robbery last week in Washington County Circuit Court. Assistant State's Attorney Gina Cirincion said the prosecution was recommending a six-year sentence for Alfred Conrad Teabout Jr. for the March 9 robbery. On July 23 Circuit Court Judge Dana Moylan Wright gave Teabout five years in prison, but said she would consider modifying that sentence after he has completed half of his prison time.

A Hagerstown man charged with robbing a bar and a convenience store in January was sentenced to three years in state prison Monday after pleading guilty in Washington County Circuit Court to one count of robbery. Parsram Kevin Sukhram, 18, of no fixed address pleaded guilty to robbery in the Jan. 29 holdup of the Side Pockets bar at 807 S. Potomac St. in Hagerstown. Under a plea agreement, other charges in that incident were dismissed, as well as charges in the Jan. 9 robbery of the AC&T at 724 Frederick St., Hagerstown.

A Berkeley Springs, W.Va., man wanted for the robbery of City National Bank in Berkeley Springs last week was captured Thursday morning by West Virginia State Police in Charles Town, police said. Justin Andrew Shives, 25, was being held in Eastern Regional Jail near Martinsburg, W.Va., on one count of bank robbery, according to Morgan County Sheriff's Deputy Lt. Timothy P. Stapleton and jail records. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department said in a news release that deputies responded to the Northgate Inn in Charles Town at 9:39 a.m. for a report of a disturbance.

A Hagerstown man has been charged with using a gun to rob another man early Friday morning in downtown Hagerstown, city police said. Racquez Shireek Warfield, 18, of 103 E. Antietam St., was charged with one count each of armed robbery, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, theft and reckless endangerment, according to a Hagerstown Police Department news release. A man entered the lobby of police headquarters on Burhans Boulevard at 1:36 a.m. Friday and told officers he had just been robbed at gunpoint by several males in the area of South Potomac Street and West Antietam Street, police said.

Police in Morgan County were searching Thursday evening for a Berkeley Springs man wanted in a bank robbery, the Morgan County Sheriff's Office said. An arrest warrant has been issued for Justin Andrew Shives, 26, for the robbery of City National Bank, 149 N. Washington St., according to Morgan County Sheriff Vincent E. Shambaugh. As of about 6 p.m., police were searching for Shives in the area of Pious Ridge Road, he said. Shambaugh said he and Lt. Timothy P. Stapleton went to the bank, where they learned that a man entered at about 3 p.m. and gave a note to a teller demanding cash.

A Hagerstown man was scheduled to enter guilty pleas in three robberies Tuesday in Washington County Circuit Court, but the offer was withdrawn after he asked to consult with an immigration attorney. Oscar Isaac Lopez, 18, of 607 Hayes Ave., had reached an agreement with prosecutors to plead guilty to three counts of robbery for the holdups, two of which were at the AC&T at 724 Frederick St., on Jan. 9 and 18, and a third at the Side Pockets bar, 807 S. Potomac St., on Jan. 29, according to court records.
