o City central lot will be closed from 6 a.m. Thursday, June 3, and will reopen by 6 a.m. Sunday, June 6. o Beginning at 6 a.m. Saturday, June 5, the portion of North Potomac Street between Franklin and Washington Streets will be closed to through traffic to allow for set-up of the Saturday portion of the Blues Fest. Vehicles can turn left onto Potomac Street from Franklin Street in order to access the Potomac Street parking deck but will not be allowed beyond the deck's entrance.

The Frederick County Sheriff's Office closed some ramps and sections of Interstate 70 and U.S. 15 Friday to provide for the dignified return of a slain U.S. Marine from Hagerstown. The roads closed for up to 15 minutes around midday for a police-escorted transport of the remains of Lance Cpl. Maung Htiak  from Dover Air Force Base in Delaware to the Stauffer Funeral Home in Frederick, the sheriff's office said. The transportation went smoothly and without incident, the sheriff's office said.

Here is a list of road and lane closures in the area for Tuesday, May 17, 2011: • Prospect Avenue will be closed between Pennsylvania Avenue and Woodland between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Tuesday for sewer main repairs, according to Mary King, communications manager for the City of Hagerstown Community and Economic Development. It will also be closed during the same time frame on Wednesday. • Md. 550 in Thurmont, Md., is still closed in both directions between Eylers Valley Flint Road and Kelbaugh Road due to a mudslide that occurred April 17. The Maryland State Highway Administration says it is still unsure when it will reopen.

The Washington County Division of Public Works announces road closures and detours for this week. The north end of Glenside Avenue will be closed to through traffic for paving installation Tuesday and Wednesday. Glenside Avenue off Oak Ridge Drive will become a two-way street for those two days and will be accessible from Oak Ridge Drive only. Resley Road will reopen to traffic at 9 a.m. Monday. Resley Road will serve as the designated detour route for Rice Road, which will close Tuesday for 14 weeks to allow for a culvert replacement.

FREDERICK, Md. -- Maryland State Police advises that several roads and highways in Frederick County will be closed or will experience delays Wednesday afternoon during the funeral procession for Frederick Police Officer Richard Mark Bremer. Bremer, 39, died Oct. 23 when his cruiser crashed while he was pursuing a driver. His funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Middletown, Md. Following the funeral, there will be a funeral procession/motorcade to Resthaven Memorial Gardens on U.S. 15. State police estimate the procession will begin at 12:30 to 1 p.m. The following roads will experience significant delays and/or closures, police said: o Maryland 17 and Alternate U.S. 40 o Interstate 70 eastbound from Alternate U.S. 40 to Exit 54 (Md. 355/Md.

East Baltimore Street has closed again between King Street and Mill Street after remaining open from Thanksgiving through the weekend. It closed on Monday so demolition work on the former Washington County Hospital could resume, according to a traffic advisory from the City of Hagerstown's website, www.hagerstownmd.org. The road first closed Monday, Nov. 14 and remained closed until Friday, Nov. 18. It was closed Monday through Wednesday last week before reopening for the Thanksgiving holidays.

K&K Painting Inc. will begin cleaning and repainting the underside of the South Prospect Street Bridge over West Antietam Street beginning Monday at 7 a.m. West Antietam Street will be closed to all traffic on either side of the bridge to permit the contractor to set up cleaning and painting equipment in the street, according to the city. Local traffic will have access to the businesses and alleys on West Antietam Street on either side of the bridge work zone. All other traffic will be detoured around the construction site on other city streets.

The southbound lanes of Edgewood Drive just south of the intersection with Dual Highway were closed Wednesday afternoon for paving work. Southbound traffic between Dual Highway and Paul Smith Boulevard is being directed onto one of the northbound lanes of Edgewood Drive. One lane of Edgewood Drive between Dual Highway and Paul Smith Boulevard remains open for northbound traffic. Cones have been set up to help direct traffic. The road closure is part of the Dual Highway/Edgewood Drive intersection and expansion project, according to Geoff McCammon of the Maryland State Highway Administration.

Part of Md. 144 closed temporarily to fix road HANCOCK - A 360-foot stretch of westbound Md. 144 in Washington County west of Hancock will be closed for three weeks while the State Highway Administration repairs the road and rebuilds an embankment damaged by Wednesday's weather. The State Highway Administration said in a written release that Wednesday night's rainfall and severe weather caused a "washout" that resulted in the road's closure. The closed portion of the road begins one half-mile east of Woodmont Road and extends toward Hancock, said Adrienne Cousler, spokeswoman for the highway administration.
