Several Fahrney-Keedy Home and Village employees received awards at this year's staff recognition dinner recently at Boonsboro American Legion. Karen Gish and Gail Hammond were honored with service excellence awards. They were nominated by their peers during a recent survey. Besides these honors, many on the staff received recognition for years of service to Fahrney-Keedy. Gish, of Boonsboro, is assistant director of the dietary department and is in her 36th year at Fahrney-Keedy.

A 24-year-old Hagerstown man accused of several residential burglaries, including the homes of relatives and twice at the home of a retired judge, was sentenced Monday in Washington County Circuit Court to 15 years in state prison. Seth Allen Michael Gladhill, formerly of 926 Salem Ave., pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree burglary and one count of theft between $1,000 and $10,000. Judge Daniel P. Dwyer sentenced him to 20 years in prison with five years suspended, plus an additional 20-year suspended sentence.

Charles F.  Barton, 87, a resident of Hearthstone Retirement Home, Waynesboro, Pa., and formerly of 10494 Buena Vista Drive, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, in the retirement home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Sunday at Christ United Methodist Church, Waynesboro. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the church, with Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro. Arrangements are by Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro.

Sylvia M. Mong Weaver, 88, a resident of Quincy Retirement Home and formerly of Scott Road, Zullinger, Pa., died Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the retirement home. Visitation will be one hour before the service Thursday at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Greencastle, Pa. The service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Manthos officiating. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, Pa.
