Retirement home couple renews wedding vows WILLIAMSPORT - Catherine and James Bachtell renewed their wedding vows Wednesday in a Valentine's Day ceremony before family and residents of a Williamsport retirement home. The couple have been married 59 years and decided Valentine's Day would be a romantic time to reaffirm their love, said Francis "Bob" Kefauver, a resident of the Homewood retirement community where the Bachtell's live. The ceremony was conducted by the Rev. Reginald Rice in the activity room at Hilltop, which is Homewood's assisted living residence.

The Ranger Foundation Inc., a nonprofit retirement home for service horses, will hold an adult volunteer orientation from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 15. The Ranger Foundation gives a home to horses who have given years of work in the military, at police departments and at schools for people with disabilities. Volunteers are needed to help care for horses. Skills in other areas may be helpful. Volunteers need not be experienced. For information, call Ann at 301-797-8051.

NOV. 6, 1929-MARCH 13, 2009 BALTIMORE - Sister Maria Goretti Palmisano, 79, of Baltimore, died Friday, March 13, 2009, at Villa Assumpta, a retirement home for the School Sisters of Notre Dame. Born Nov. 6, 1929, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of Agnes Wheeler Palmisano and Theodore Palmisano. She graduated from St. Ambrose Catholic School in Baltimore and went to Notre Dame Juniorate High School in Fort Lee, N.J. She entered the School Sisters of Notre Dame in August 1949.
