A Hagerstown woman was charged with prostitution Tuesday after a plainclothes police officer asked her about oral sex, according to Washington County District Court records. Jeannine Heather Ricketts, 51, of 1729 National Pike, was being held Wednesday night in the Washington County Detention Center on $8,000 bond, a jail spokesman said. Hagerstown Police Department Detective M. Kovac said in court papers city police officers were working on a prostitution detail downtown Tuesday afternoon when he approached Ricketts in a North Prospect Street area where there have been frequent prostitution complaints.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- A man and woman were arraigned in Berkeley County Magistrate Court on charges of prostitution after county sheriff's department deputies on Wednesday allegedly caught the couple engaged in a sexual act, according to court records. Norman Woodrow Silver, 64, of 36 Chris Drive, Martinsburg, was arraigned on a misdemeanor count of soliciting prostitution, and Tammy Annette Norton, 33, of 421 Kentucky Ave., Martinsburg, was arraigned on one misdemeanor count of second-offense prostitution, according to court records.

Woman charged with solicitation of prostitution MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- A 25-year-old woman on Friday was in Eastern Regional Jail on a felony count of third-offense solicitation of prostitution. Crystal Lynn Donovan, of no fixed address, was arraigned Friday morning by Berkeley County Magistrate JoAnn Overington, who set a $10,000 bond, according to court records. A confidential informant met Donovan in the area of War Memorial Park on Thursday and she agreed to perform two sexual acts for $100, according to a complaint filed by Martinsburg Police Department Detective Cpl. S.F. Doyle.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A 33-year-old woman charged with one count of solicitation of prostitution and a felony county of animal cruelty in November 2008 resolved one of the charges in magistrate court on Tuesday. Breshannon L. Deveraux entered a guilty plea to the prostitution charge. She was credited for serving 105 days in jail and no additional sentence was added, Berkeley County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Matthew Harvey said. Deveraux, who was still incarcerated at Eastern Regional Jail Tuesday evening, also was ordered to pay a $50 fine and $159.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. --The court-appointed attorney for a woman charged with animal cruelty and solicitation of prostitution was 20 minutes late Monday for the defendant's hearing, which was again delayed because the presiding magistrate was not supposed to be assigned the case. The state's case against Breshannon Deveraux, 33, of Martinsburg, was mistakenly assigned to Magistrate W. Randy Smith after Jim Humphrey left office last month, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Stephanie Saunders said.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- A Chambersburg woman charged with prostituting two teenage runaways waived her mandatory arraignment and entered a not guilty plea Wednesday in Franklin County Court, according to her attorney, James Reed. Candy Lee Hubbard, 31, of 61 S. Franklin St., had her case scheduled for the March trial term on two counts each of sexual exploitation of children, a second-degree felony; promoting prostitution, a third-degree felony; and corruption of minors, a first-degree misdemeanor.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- A woman charged last week with abusing a pit bull that was found chained in the attic of a home with open wounds and ribs showing has been charged with solicitation of prostitution, the Martinsburg Police Department said Wednesday. Breshannon Leslie Deveraux, 33, of 252 E. Burke St. in Martinsburg, allegedly solicited sexual favors in exchange for money from a confidential informant Tuesday afternoon in the 300 block of South Rosemont Avenue, police said. Deveraux was taken into custody Tuesday shortly after Martinsburg Police Department Detective Cpl. S.F. Doyle said she solicited the informant about 4:15 p.m., according to the officer's complaint.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Chambersburg Police Department has charged a second person, a borough man who remains at large, with prostituting two teenage runaways in August. Gregory Ramos, 49, of 61 S. Franklin St., has been charged with two felony counts each of sexual exploitation of children and promoting prostitution, police said.
