A woman was charged with prostitution after police said she met with an undercover police officer at the Heritage Inn just outside Martinsburg, according to court records. Sheila Wells Silver, 47, of 53 Crown Court, Martinsburg, was arraigned Wednesday by Berkeley County Magistrate Joan V. Bragg, who set a $2,500 bond, according to magistrate court documents. Silver was arrested after she engaged Berkeley County Sheriff's Deputy Michael St. Clair in “an obvious sexual act” in room 117 of the motel at 1024 Winchester Ave., court documents said.

A 34-year-old woman pleaded guilty Tuesday in Berkeley County Magistrate Court to one count of utilizing a house of ill fame and two counts of prostitution. Angela Elaine Holt was ordered to serve six months of an 18-month jail sentence that was imposed as part of a plea agreement, according to court records. In exchange for the suspension of the remaining jail time, Holt will be placed on unsupervised probation for two years, the records said. She also was ordered to stay off Alonzo Drive, where police stopped six men driving away from a residence between November 2010 and July 2011.

Four men were charged with soliciting for prostitution last week in an undercover operation conducted by the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office. Gary W. Tugwell, 46, of Hagerstown; Richard L. Clites, 47, of Hyndman, Pa.; Alton K. Lloyd, 52, of Hedgesville, W.Va.; and Michael J. De Paw, 37, of Martinsburg, were charged in the operation, which took place Tuesday and Wednesday at local motel, according to a sheriff's office news release. A "cooperating individual" working with investigators posted an advertisement on Backpage.com as an escort, the release said.

A woman charged with prostitution Friday morning in Hagerstown was unable to get her $3,000 bail reduced after it was discovered that she uses multiple names, birth dates and Social Security numbers. Kristen Heather Ricketts, 52, of Hagerstown, was arrested by a plainclothes Hagerstown Police officer in the first block of North Prospect Street, according to Washington County District Court records. "In Maryland, the defendant has 13 different aliases on her rap sheet, nine dates of birth and 10 different Social Security numbers," Assistant State's Attorney Christopher McCormack said Friday.

Prostitution promotion acknowledged in Pa. court By DON AINES / Staff Writer, Chambersburg CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Waynesboro, Pa., man charged with paying three teenagers for sexual acts pleaded guilty Wednesday in Franklin County Court to a charge of promoting prostitution. Gary Arnold Wease, 48, of 34 Strickley Ave., faces up to seven years in prison and a $15,000 fine for the third-degree felony, according to Assistant District Attorney John Lisko. He is scheduled for sentencing on Wednesday, Oct. 4. According to court records, Waynesboro Police had also charged Wease with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault, corruption of a minor and furnishing alcohol to minors.

By TERRY TALBERT Staff Writer A 33-year-old Washington County woman pleaded guilty in Circuit Court Wednesday to soliciting for prostitution and was sentenced to the maximum one year in jail. Alissa Fall was charged after she allegedly solicited an officer at Walnut and Church streets in Hagerstown and agreed to perform a sex act for $40, police said. Circuit Judge Frederick C. Wright III ordered the sentence to run from the date of her arrest in July. She has been in jail since then.

A 59-year-old man is accused of soliciting prostitution Thursday in a City Hospital parking lot in Martinsburg, according to Berkeley County Magistrate Court records. Dennis M. Hawley of 484 Williamsport Pike, Martinsburg, was arraigned by Magistrate Harry L. Snow on one misdemeanor count of soliciting prostitution, according to court records. The woman allegedly involved told police that the defendant offered to pay her $140 when he first asked her to have sex with him, according to court documents.  Hawley told police that he was waiting on a friend he dropped off at the hospital to visit a patient, the court records said.

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - An 81-year-old Greencastle man was charged Tuesday with two counts of promoting prostitution at the RSVP Spa in Greencastle, Pennsylvania State Police said. George W. Bradley, 81, who said in a telephone interview Tuesday that he is suffering from terminal cancer, denied the charges. Bradley said he hasn't been involved with the operation of the spa for 18 months. He said the charges won't mean much considering his health. A woman who answered the phone at the 15302 Molly Pitcher Highway business Tuesday night declined to comment.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Chambersburg Police Department has charged a second person, a borough man who remains at large, with prostituting two teenage runaways in August. Gregory Ramos, 49, of 61 S. Franklin St., has been charged with two felony counts each of sexual exploitation of children and promoting prostitution, police said. A woman accused of prostitution in Martinsburg Tuesday night allegedly agreed to accept $20 from a police officer who was patrolling on a motorcycle in downtown Martinsburg, according to Berkeley County Magistrate Court records. Michelle Kimberly Wolfe, 31, of 487 Porter Ave. in Martinsburg, was arraigned Wednesday by Berkeley County Magistrate Joan V. Bragg on one misdemeanor count of prostitution, according to court documents. While patrolling in the 100 block of North Queen Street Tuesday night, Martinsburg Police Sgt. J.E. Darby said Wolfe approached him at about 9:40 p.m. and asked for a cigarette, according to court documents.

A Frederick, Md., attorney who was among four men arrested in a prostitution sting in February will have the opportunity to have the misdemeanor charge filed against him dismissed. Roger Charles Simmons, 65, was charged with one count of solicitation of prostitution after police said he responded to an Internet adult escort advertisement, according to court documents. The charge will be dismissed in six months if Simmons is not charged with any jailable offenses in that time, according to a resolution that Berkeley County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Christine Riley presented Wednesday morning to Magistrate Jim Humphrey.

A woman charged with prostitution promoted her alleged activities at her home as an escort service on the Internet, according to Berkeley County Magistrate Court records. Angela Elaine Holt of 2004 Alonzo Drive, Martinsburg was arraigned Friday by Magistrate Sandra L. Miller on five misdemeanor counts of prostitution and one count of utilizing a house of ill fame, according to court and jail records. Arrested Friday by Martinsburg police, Holt was being held in Eastern Regional Jail Friday night on $30,000 bond, according to court and jail records.

Two females posing as prostitutes, along with two Brooklyn, N.Y., men, are accused of robbing a man at gunpoint early Monday at the Rodeway Inn near Martinsburg, according to court records. Anthony Michael Waterman, 26, Derick Wayne Wells, 22, and Dayal Morgan Quevedo, 18, were being held in Eastern Regional Jail Monday on cash-only bonds set Monday by Berkeley County Magistrate Joan V. Bragg, according to court and jail records. The second female suspect had not been identified or arrested by Monday afternoon, but police were told she had previously been paid for sex by the victim in the armed robbery, which police responded to investigate at 1:18 a.m., the court documents said.
