SMITHSBURG -- A 35-year-old Boonsboro woman was killed Sunday evening after the motorcycle she was riding was struck by a hit-and-run driver, the Washington County Sheriff's Office said in a news release. Police are still looking for the driver. According to the release, Debra Reed Fields-Jordan, of 9364 Childacrest Drive, Boonsboro, was traveling eastbound on Foxville Road at about 6:54 p.m. when a white pickup truck traveling southbound on Pleasant Valley Road ran a stop sign at the Foxville Road intersection.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - The Berkeley County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death of a 37-year-old Frederick County, Md. man found Friday evening in a pickup truck in a commuter parking lot at the Falling Waters, W.Va., exit for Interstate 81. Sheriff's Deputy Lt. Gary Harmison said on Monday that he was waiting for the results of an autopsy being completed at the West Virginia Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Jefferson County Sheriff's Department officers rescued a man from inside a pickup truck Thursday afternoon after the vehicle landed on its roof in a creek along the Shenandoah River east of Charles Town. Cpl. Vincent Tiong and Cpl. R.S. Sell responded to the scene along Bloomery Road off W.Va. 9 in an area known as "Powerhouse Hill. " "Pretty much, I just took all my equipment off and jumped in the water," Tiong said. Tiong said he waded into the creek in water about waist deep and used a flashlight to break a window in the truck.

WASHINGTON COUNTY ? A Cascade man was charged with attempted second-degree murder Sunday in connection with a Saturday incident during which his girlfriend was struck by a pickup truck, throwing her body against a garage door so hard the door broke, Maryland State Police said. John William Spahr, 33, also was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and kidnapping in the incident, troopers said in a news release. During the incident, Anna Marie Batko was pinned against the garage door at the couple's residence, troopers said in a news release.

CHARLES TOWN, W.VA. ? A Harpers Ferry, W.Va., man has been charged in a Jan. 6 incident in which a pickup truck went off River Road near Shepherdstown and into the Potomac River, resulting in the drowning of a passenger, police said. Kevin David Phelps, the driver of the truck who allegedly fled the scene, was arrested Friday and charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and two counts of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in injury, according to Jefferson County Magistrate Court records.

LAVALE, Md. - A 16-year-old Clear Spring girl died and a Hagerstown girl was injured late Saturday in a four-vehicle accident on Interstate 68 in Allegany County, Maryland State Police said. Kelly Peacher was the driver of a 1997 Hyundai Tiburon that police said was westbound on I-68 just each of Vocke Road at 10:15 p.m. Saturday when her vehicle collided with a westbound Ford Crown Victoria. After the impact, the Crown Victoria came to rest on the shoulder at the guardrail, while Peacher's car ended up across the roadway and then was struck on the driver's side by a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that also was westbound, police said.

Pickup truck stolen in Maryland School for the Deaf break-in FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Police in Frederick are investigating the theft of a pickup truck, tools and cash from the Maryland School for the Deaf. The break-in at the school's Career and Technology Building was reported Sunday morning. Police say classrooms were ransacked and some property was destroyed. They say a 1995 GMC truck belonging to a staff member was stolen from a garage in the building.

FREDERICK, Md. - A Frederick, Md., man was killed when his pickup truck ran off the road late Monday, Maryland State Police said. Mark Joseph Kelly, 43, was northbound on Md. 75 when his 1996 Chevy S-10 pickup truck ran off the road, hit a concrete culvert and embankment and overturned, police said. Medical Examiner Larry West pronounced Kelly dead at the scene from head trauma police said. Kelly's pet dog also died in the wreck.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A Martinsburg man died Friday after his pickup truck was involved in a head-on collision with a Kenworth box truck on Shepherdstown Road, according to a West Virginia State Police press release. Kent Maynard Haase, who was driving a 1994 Ford pickup truck, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 6:30 a.m. accident, according to the release. Steven Robert Berry of Martinsburg, who was driving the box truck, was uninjured, according to the release. The accident happened on Shepherdstown Road about a quarter-mile east of Files Cross Road in Berkeley County, according to the release.

WAYNESBORO, Pa. An older model pickup truck crashed Friday afternoon through the window of Dtrick Davis' Urban Apparels at the intersection of Main and South Potomac streets in Waynesboro. The truck was being towed by a full-size blue Chevrolet or GMC pickup truck at 2:45 p.m. when the tow bar broke, police said. The driver, a white man with long, brown hair and a baseball cap, continued south on South Potomac Street, police said. Anyone with information on the incident may call police at 717-762-2132.
