Berkeley Springs edges Petersburg B. Springs points out victory By BOB PARASILITI / Staff Writer BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Berkeley Springs and Petersburg proved that there is a real reason why they call the game "football. " The foot the Indians used and the one the Vikings didn't ended up being the difference Friday night in a strange game. When it came down to it, Berkeley Springs' Jason Schetrompf hit the only extra point of the game, providing the difference in a 19-18 victory for the Indians.

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - The Berkeley Springs football team spent an entire year questioning itself. After all that, it only took three plays in the first game of the season to get all the right answers. For the victory, Angelo Luvara: What happened last season when Berkeley Springs lost to Petersburg? "They beat us handily last year," the Berkeley Springs coach said. "They have the same kids back and so do we. The kids have been wanting this the whole year. " The Indians turned the tables in a big way on Friday, paying back Petersburg in convincing fashion with a 57-6 shellacking which could have easily been a whole lot worse.

Ned Augustus Martin, age 81, of Petersburg, W.Va., passed away Monday, March 25, 2013, at Grant Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 16, 1931, in Williamsport, Md., and was a son of the late Gussie Benjamin Martin and Lucy (Poffenberger) Martin. Mr. Martin graduated from Williamsport High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and was a veteran of the Korean War. He graduated from Potomac State College and West Virginia University with a bachelor's and master's degree in agricultural education.

Orvan Guy “Pete” Sites Sr., 84, of 15125 National Pike in Hagerstown, Md., died peacefully surrounded by his family and friends Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at Julia Manor Nursing Home in Hagerstown. Born Oct. 18, 1927, in Kline, W.Va., he was the son of the late Floyd Eston Sites and Merle Smith Sites. He was a member of Brake Brethren Church of Dorcas, W.Va. He was last employed by Leroy Myers Sr. Building Co. for more than 40 years, and previously by WH Van Meter and Son of Petersburg, W.Va., and for John Corbett of Clear Spring, Md. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Dell (Ours)

William Edgar "Stoney" Jamison Jr., 82, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and formerly of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Monday, April 1, 2013, at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Fla. Born Nov. 10, 1930, in Antietam Furnace, Md., he was the son of the late William Edgar Jamison Sr. and Mary Amelia Ely Jamison. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hilda J. Fraley Jamison, in 1999, to whom he was married for 48 years. He was employed by Mack Trucks in Hagerstown, Md., until retiring in 1987.
